It's very hard to tell, but probably Anachronox (being more adventure than many of so called adventure games).

Hi Gabriel Knight : Sins of the Fathers will always hold the dearest of places in MY heart. I know it is very dated now but for me it has never lost its magic Cheers Mad :santa:

Syberia and Darkness Within. They both had wonderful storylines. :grinch:

my favourite adventure games are lure of the temptress flight of the amazon queen 6th sense investigations (only available for the amiga 1200) i played them without needing a walkthrough and this for me is a sign of a really good adventure game as it shows that the puzzles are logical i have played them over and over again and have just started lure again

My favourite game ever??? I;d think it still has to be Riven. I wish I could play it for the first time again. That and Gabriel Knight: The beast Within.

I cannot name only one - of course the very first computer game I ever played will always hold a very special place in my heart/head and that is Beyond Time! And in my list of mostest favoritist games would be URU, and Around The World In 80 Days, and several others whose names at the moment escape me....(I'll come back here and add them if/when I think of it/them) Love, Betty Lou

I would totally agree Betty Lou, it's hard to pick just one game as the best .... but if I was really pressed I would have to say The Longest Journey. It was the first computer game I played, and unfortunately I often compare the way I felt playing that game to how I feel playing a new game. Lots just don't compare. Some that did are Riven and Keepsake. I like games that are visually attractive - make you want to just walk around and enjoy the scenery as well as play the game.

The Broken Sword series wil always have a place on my hard drive, along with Fahrenheit and Still Life - trouble is (despite my post), there are just too many good games out there. I've been messing around with computers for about 10 years, and I believe that we are now in the Golden Age of Adventure Gaming

I will be unfair to the many games which i liked but my favourite Adv Game was Still Life. I loved the investigations and the storyline and was disappointed a bit with the end. Now that the news arrived that the sequel is in production a wish came true. I just hope the sequel is as good as the first one with the same atmosphere and an equally strong storyline. The fact that i am only 22 means that i haven't played some of the older adv games which were released and many people liked.

I'd have to say "Post Mortem and Still Life" are my favorites. Great storyline and graphics. Glorius news about "Still Life 2".

Myst or RealMyst. I played the original one way back when it came out. I still love to go back to it for the music and ambiance.

The best adventure game ever is Azrael's Tear.
Also, I read Butcher's post above and I want it to be illegal for anyone to be 22.

I'll add two favorites. URU may be the prettiest game ever made and Drowned God may be the most unique. When I was 22 I was still trying to figure out how a slide-rule worked. (If someone is 22 he has no clear idea what that is!)

When I was 22 I was still trying to figure out how a slide-rule worked. (If someone is 22 he has no clear idea what that is!) Boy, isn't that the truth--I was amazed to discover that my electrical engineer grandson didn't even know what a slide rule was!! As for favorite games, it's pretty hard to pick, but GK2 and the Syberia games are right up at the top of the list...

Black Mirror, for its gripping story and atmosphere, the final stunning twist in the tale - and all that rain. Boy, did it rain.
Still Life, for its suspense, its powerful plot, its fiendish puzzles and its wonderful characters.
Too many favourites to mention!

I was just thinking of starting a thread about your favorite Adventure game that few gamers know, or your favorite "bad" game. Then RayBres and Marian suggest Azrael's Tear. That was my pick for a favorite that few gamers know. I second their comments. My favorite "bad" game is Missing. I just loved the odd puzzles, the Internet searching and the movies. And the e-mails. Lots of fun.
For me the best games probably have to be the Monkey Island games.
(btw, Becky I am excited to finally begin playing Shadow of Destiny, due to your excitement and discussion of the game in the past. Thanks for the recommendation.)

I love Grim Fandango, and a close second is Return to Zork. They are some of the first adventure games on the pc I played and I just love the humor in them.

Well, I gotta say I love, love, love, The Last Express. Definitely my favorite.
Also, I am ashamed to admit I have an unplayed copy of TLJ. Had it for five years now...just never motivated to play it, even though everyone seems to love it.
But I would never trade or sell it! I guess I feel if I play it and love it, then that wonderful FIRST TIME magic will be gone. And if I hate it, everyone will call me insane! LOL

I'm not much of an "adventure" gamer, but if I had to pick a favorite in that category, I'd have to say Myst.
I like Action/RPG's the best. For those, I would have to say that the ones that have left the deepest impression are Stonekeep, Tombraider, and Zelda. To me, the way those games captured my imagination is the "standard" to which I hold all other games. For Tomb Raider and Zelda, I have enjoyed every one I have played (some more than others), but it was the originals that really grabbed me.

The best game? Humour: Broken Sword 1, and a wonderfull atmosphere.( Great voices!) Also Zork inquisitor comes high on my list, a very funny game. Painful lonelyness: and (what makes a real horror, real spooky game for me, as it comes close to the real thing, I think ghostly appearences are the remnants of sad emotions left behind. (if youre lucky! ) In Blackstone Chronicles (you can feel the icy cold, thanks to the voice-acting of the father type. What a voice!) If I were a woman... Also Darkfall 1 (it is easy to recognize that Jonathan is a real Ghosthunter!) And Black Mirror. In that order to me at least. A game cannot get get to dark for me, my nightmare's are still worse, so these kind of games are relaxing to me personally! (Don't worry, I am only partly ish!) But I need to feel that the games are being made with love, That is, that the creators know about the world they are making. Great graphics are a bonus. Quoting Bruce Lee (one of my heroes): "You got to feeeeel!! Or you will miss all that heavenly glory!" robert :eeksnoman:
