Hi, I have an opportunity to trade Runaway 2 for this game but I don't see anyone asking for it so I'm concerned about trading a popular game for one that has no appeal. I know it's a fairly recent release yet no one seems to be seeking it. Opinions wanted please? Thanks and HNY, Sky!!

I think I see the clue,
but is it one, or is it two?
I'll just move this one here,
dang the answer isn't clear!
Oh geeez now what do I do?

I quite enjoyed Broken Sword 4 (but not as much as 1 or 2 but better than 3 strictly because of the awkward controls in BS 3). Have you played the others in the series?

One caveat about Broken Sword 4 is that you need to make sure that your graphics card supports pixel shading or it won't run. There is a work around for it using an application called 3D Analyze but it's not optimaal and I still experienced stuttering (I played through anyway).

I'm one to stick with a series so if you've played the first 3, I'd say go for it.

Anyway, here's two reviews for BS 4:

It really depends on what you like. Did you play any of the Broken Sword games? I can make these comparisons but it is just my opinion. Broken sword 1 was by far the best, it is regarded by many as a top 5 game. Broken Sword 2 was lesser than 1 in regard to story. It did not seem to be as long or detailed. Though in #2 you got to play part of the game as Nico. The game helped to better define her character. So even if many say it was not as good as #1 it contributed in a good way to the series. In Game #3, Revolution acclaimed it a break through adventure game. Though traditional players hated its addition of action scenes, timed puzzles and stealth. Players also hated the too frequent pushing, pulling and moving of crates puzzles. The story was really good the characters terrific. If you could live with the hybred additions then likely you loved it. Otherwise you hated it.

As for #4 In spite of the early proclamations about the wonderful game play changes in #3 Revolution dropped the horrendous keyboard controls, crates, and action near death scenes and went back to point and click for #4. The story is very good, the game plays well. But you don't see Nico until the 2nd half of the game. Yes you do get to play some as Nico. But fans of the game who really liked Nico were less than pleased.

Will you like it better than Runnaway? I certainly do. I'd say it is ten times better than Runnaway. But then again I absolutely hated Runnaway. I think it is only fair to compare BS 4 to the other BS games. If you liked them you should like this one. It is true to the series with some short comings.

I liked Broken Sword 4 a lot better than Runaway 2.
And unlike Runaway 2, Broken Sword 4 actually has an ending instead of this "to be continued" nonsense.

BS4 is not as good as the first three, but better than Runaway 2. Runaway 2 is lingering in my computer until I have nothing else, then I'll finish. BS4 although not my favorite of the BS games is in my opinion better than Runaway 2.
I still like George, kind of the Gabriel type. Sly humor.

I've played them both and there is no "contest". Runaway 2 is ok but no more . scared

Broken Sword 4 on the other hand is really a good game. As said before a better game compared to BS3. thumbsup

Cheers and luck what ever you choose

Be carefull, this game is picky about your graphics card, I bought a dell xps w/all the bells, and this game would'nt play right on this system. All the characters and things you interact with were blacked out. Asked adventure company about this,(gave them all my specs)and they said my graphics card was'nt compatible w/game. After a month or so, am still in the process of exchangeing for another game. There service stinks.....to put it nicely....

You're right about their service, Bert. I would think all that was needed was a change of video card drivers. It sounds like all they did was look for your graphics card on a list and they didn't find it because it was newer than the game.

Hi Bert, I agree that it's not too good when a game produced is not compatible with some graphic cards - I had the same problem when the game came out - I had a fairly good system less than a year old, the game played but was very 'sticky'. I posted in glitches & found that the graphics card I had was not the best in the world for games! I did buy a new one - not especially for that game but because I realised it was probably not going to support newer games in the future. It could be worth your while asking for an opinion on your graphics card in Glitches here - as however good your system is it may not have the right graphics card for your gaming needs! smile

Well, I've finally found someone that had the same problem as me. My characters were also black shadows and I went thrugh all the boards and tech support until I gave up. My last email to tech support is over a year old and still unanswered. My graphics card does meet the specifications listed for the game.

Did'nt mean to scare you sky..I'm sure it'll work for you. It's just sad when your system and video card meets and exceeds game requirements and you have trouble like this. I realize its hard for the creators to make games compatible with every system, but they are making them... and should stand by their product....

I think it is not rite. The manuel says, copying fromit, video card 128 shader model 1.1 compatible. I do not now what shader model means. The readme file says theree are 27 video cards which work but on board chips wont work.
a few nividias gforce cards are in the good list on read me

Bert I just (finally) solved this problem for me. I added a comment to your post in glitches if you're still interested in resolving it.
