Does anyone know if a sequel to Dreamfall is planned? If so, when?

Hi escakacs -- Funcom announced months ago that there would be a series of online episodes released that would make up a sequel to Dreamfall. There hasn't been a date set for their release yet, though.

Online!! Oh Phooey! I have dial-up and that'll take forever!-----------
That would be oh phooey again. They left it so resolved! *******

That would be unresolved. I just finished playing it again. I sent an e-mail to Aspyr begging for a sequel. They said to contact Fucom who don't give you a link where you can go to plead. I really liked the game. I want it go to on.

I don't know how large each individual episode will be. There's also the chance that, after several episodes, the whole thing will be released on disk -- not a certainty, but a good chance, I'd say.

There hasn't been any word about this recently, though, which makes me think that the release, even of the online episodes, is still far into the future.

I have The Longest Journey on my shelf to play, I'm waiting until I play it to decide if I want to continue on to Dreamfall as I read some rather poor reviews on it. Did you enjoy it?

PMcOuntry,

I haven't played Dreamfall yet (I own it, but my current computer isn't up to the specs), but I HIGHLY recommend you play The Longest Journey, whether or not you ever go on to play Dreamfall (which has received somewhat mixed reviews).

The Longest Journey is a WONDERFUL game -- along with the Syberia games and a few others, it is definitely in my top 5 of all time, possibly even my #1.

Hi Patricia, The Longest Journey is a third person point & click with what I would describe as a very immersive story, mainly inventory type puzzles, lots of dialogue, no dying & a good conclusion - nothing more needed! I thought it was a wonderful game & one of my favourites & like many others wanted a sequel.

This turned up! - Dreamfall. This has enhanced graphics but plays completely differently. It is third person but is keyboard controlled - it has stealth & action elements & you can die but they are not dominant & you can avoid some of the action parts. I found it easier to play on a gamepad. I liked this game as much as the Longest Journey in a different way - the only frustration was that although there was a complete story contained within it which I liked very much, there was a lot unanswered if you were interested in the path of the main character from the Longest Journey who played a secondary role in this game.

If you think you can get on with the controls I would recommend playing Dreamfall first to get the best experience of the game in it's own right - then go on to play The Longest Journey. smile

Patricia, I played TLJ first (loved it) and then Dreamfall which I also loved.

The controls of Dreamfall took a while to get used to. I found that If I made her walk instead of run, I had better control. Dreamfall did feel more like an interactive movie than an adventure game, but I really enjoyed it and am glad that I played it. puppy

I agree with chrissie's thoughts, the storylines in both games are superb, and I found them equally immersive and fun to play. I'd just add that Dreamfall is keyboard and mouse controlled - movement is made using the keyboard, but you can pan with the mouse. This is infinitely better than being solely keyboard controlled. It doesn't take too long to get used to the controls, although I was whirling around like a demented thing for the first 10 minutes or so. laugh

The reviews I read for the game on other sites were basically saying, the controls were horrible, etc. etc. etc. which is what worried me. However, as an on-line gamer, I "might" not have too much trouble...famous last words. Since I won't be getting to TLJ for a bit, I'll wait to buy it after I've played it for a bit, maybe by then the price will go down, lol.
