If I delete my games to have space, will I be able to reactivate even if I decide to no longer be a member of the game club?

The games are yours Flo even if you quit the gameclub. I do not keep but a handful of casual games loaded at a time and if I feel like revisiting one, I just re-download.

I do the same thing as Ana wave

I may not have gone where I intended to go,but I think I have ended up where I need to be.

After having some trouble getting 3 of my games reactivated I started searching for another solution and will post here in case others are in my predicament.

My start/programs menu was getting so large I couldn't find anything so I used the help file and made a folder for all my BFG games and now drag all the BFG start/programs/game-folders into it. As my icons are already small I had to find another solution. So far it is working like a charm. My hard drive is 80gb so it can easily handle all the games. Some of my older BFG purchases are not on the new BFG GameManager and I wanted to be able to play what I want and when I want. Another solution was a folder with all the .exe icons in a BFG folder on the desktop but my desktop too was filling rapidly.

Question: I have noticed that pretty much all of the BFG games also put a .exe into the start/programs/games folder? Do I really need all these 'shortcuts' for all the games? I have been afraid to delete any for fear the games won't play. Gladly take some advice if given wave

So many games, so little time.

No, you don't need to keep any of those in the start menu or your desktop. What I do is I delete all the BFG game folders in the start menu and delete the shortcuts on my desktop only leaving the BFG "Play my games" shortcut which brings up the game manager and I start the games from there.

You can still uninstall any games by going to START > SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL > ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.

I also have a "games" folder Raylinstepens. I am afraid to leave them on BFG to download as I need them because you are restricted by only 3 downloads. I lost a good game that way.
With all the computer woes I had last year I used up my downloads and lost a few.

Is that true about only 3 downloads? I can't find anything on BFG about that restriction. Have you contacted them about the "lost" games?

That is what happened to me NYLady with 3 of my games. I had so many problems last summer and had to format 3 times before I found the problem. BFG was refusing to allow me to re-activate claiming I had used up all my activations but it was still only 3 computers. (*I have since been able to get them re-activated*) Now I will just keep them all here on my computer.

The good news is in a previous posting BFG-Guy said they are making a button on the page for people getting a new computer so they can just download everything in one huge timely download to the new computer. I don't know if it is available yet but I am sure it will be by the time I can afford a new computer.

Thanks Misa. I wish there was a way to put the missing games onto the "play my games" manager duh but so far all the early games are still missing.

Nice to know I can delete some of these folders though, thanks again Misa.

The policy is as follows:
- Unlimited redownloads on the same computer (it remembers that it was activated)
- Activation on up to 3 computers
- Additional activations beyond 3 computers if you contact customer service and explain why you need a 4th (or 5th or 6th)

The limitation is simply to prevent rampant piracy.
The magic (Download and reinstall all of my games) button is still about 6 weeks away. It is more difficult to engineer than first anticipated.

We will have the ability to add any games to the BF Game Manager, but do not have a date for that yet.

I have put all my bfg games on a flash drive to make room on my hard drive. Then when I want to play one I play it from the flash drive. So far I've had no problem doing this. Just a suggestion.

I'm glad to hear that Adorable. I had thought about doing that but was afraid that by moving the files I might break some link or needed file. wave

How about storing them on an external hard drive? Or is that considered another computer? I have thought about storing some of my games that way, but not sure about the activation thingy (sorry to use technical terms lol) I don't want to lose any games, but they do start to add up in the computer. Am I reading right that you can take them in and out as long as it is the same computer? Thanks, just don't want to lose the games. Gosh I sound like that crazy guy on Lord of the Rings...my precious, my precious! grin

Koalanut thanks

Koala, my thought is that an external hard drive would be the same as a flash drive, but of course, that is just my "thought."

Thank you BFG-Guy. Yes, after explanation I was able to put back the 3 games I was missing. Some of the early buys I had already purchased the CD versons in the store when they became available so I never tried to reactivate them, my first 2 games were the first 2 MCF games and I now have the CD version of them and the Hidden Expedition games as well as the Jewel Quest series. Maybe that is why only the 3 games from the summer wouldn't reactivate duh but it is all history now and I am very happy again.

I understood the reasoning, what got me hung up was after a re-format your computer will not remember anything as it is almost like a new hard drive. With your new feature of choosing where to install them I could put them on my external hd but I prefer to have them in the computer and only use my external for backup purposes and have it turned off most of the time.

I have not only been very well pleased with BFG but recommend it to anyone that will stand still for even a minute. Your selection of games is capable of feeding everyone's favorite type games at least once a month.

Linda wave

**edit: I could be mistaken but installing to a flash-drive or an external hard-drive wouldn't mean the games will play on any computer, only that you aren't installed within your physical computer. The license would still be somewhere in your computer so a format would still lose that information. Where I cannot say but I am betting that there is info embedded within your OS so that only your computers will be activated, anyone else would most likely get only the demo/hour. This is guesswork, I have not tried it but it does make sense. I looked up about buying the CD version of the games at BFG and that was the "end result" even with the CD. It states that unless your computer is activated the CD contains only the demo/full version available of the game.

Can someone give me more info on the flash drive? I have a small one I use to transport work from home to work, but I save directly to it.

How would that work with games already on my hard drive... can they be tranferred? I tried to tranfer my games from my old to my new computer but they wouldn't work.

My question is how do you tranfer games on your hard drive to the flash drives or do you have to download it from the game site to the flash drive?
