Seriously ,this game is even weirder then Next Life. You control this camera system and you use it to guide the main character through something that looks like a lab inside a... either a facility or a ship, I'm not quite sure because it wasn't in sea, so either it's a wrecked ship or a secret facility(In the opening cinematic it looks like a ship so I dunno...). Anyways, this game tries something new, but does it in a bad way. It just throws you out there without any tutorials and hardly any explanations. It's really hard to control this camera system because the game has lots of flaws. For example - to guide the character you turn something on and she moves towards it(Lights, doors, objects etc etc), but sometimes you have to turn on and off the same object like 3 times be4 she actually moves.
The whole map system is odd. It's hard to figure out where you are exactly. The areas on the map look a LOT bigger on the map then the actual area in the game. If you would just look at the map, there is no way you would figure out that this is such a small area.
In this game there are objects that you need to turn on and see what happens... well I found myself randomly clicking on everything without even knowing what it does because you can't really tell in this game. You just click on it and see how she reacts, if she does at all.
There are objectives that you need to complete but can't really figure out where you need to go to complete them. You found yourself randomly walking around, clicking on objects to find something useful. There's a help button, which doesn't really help...
Accessing files and profiles is also a bit hard. There are files for each profile which I find hard to understand. But maybe I'm alone at this, Dunno.
This game tries to make something new for adventure games, but it does it in a really bad way. You can't just make a new gaming system, and just throw players at it and expect them to catch up. This game has 2 many flaws. The idea is really good and I liked it a lot, but once I tried it, I kinda got disappointed. I expected more. It would've been better as a standard point and click game.

Share your opinions. smile

Hi sinotek,
I've been tracking this game since the beginning when it was titled Experience 112 and through several of its name changes. This was back in May, 2006 when I wrote in my notes that you direct rather than control by being an observer watching her through onboard cameras and can't communicate verbally with her, but can hear her speak to you. It was supposed to be taking place in a grounded old ship. It interested me back then, but as I learned more about it I began to think that it wasn't going to be my type of game. Mostly because it sounded a lot like the way you described your reactions to it. Maybe that is why the name changed to The Experiment -- because that is what it is!

To love is to be happy with!

Lord!
I tried the demo and had about 19 screens on my desktop at once and threw my hands up in disgust.

I tried the demo and just ... couldn't get it to run properly. I need more RAM - I only have a gig of ram and nowadays that's minimum. I gave up because there's no option to turn the graphic options down, and if I could it'd probably run without that lag so it's playable.

I might give it another chance when my new ram arrives next week (4 gigs! yippee!) but it does sound really complicated!

Well I found it to be an interesting game; it is basically a point and click with a different view. The ending was interesting as well, perhaps not personally satisfying to some but it fit the game.

I try to get these adventure games to be a time when some of the family can get together and put some brain cells to work and have some fun so perhaps I look at this game with a little bit differently slant too.
In that respect I got it loaded on the computer and my daughter took over and handed it back to me when she needed help through a tough section.

We played on a laptop with a 15 inch screen so we never kept more than three screens opened at a time besides the control room screen and had no difficulty in keeping up with where we needed to direct her or what we had to do. We do not use a mouse either as keyboarding is always quicker if you remap some keys or just familiar enough with the keyboard to do the various needed functions.

I enjoyed the little 'comments' that was directed to you after you resumed your game as it kept track of how long between one session of game playing and the next as well. Although not a 'game' feature in actual play I appreciate it when the developers can throw in a little bit of fun like that.

We did have issues though and that was with the saved files as many times they ended up as 'corrupted files' for some reason but as we saved quite often we did not have that big of an impact other than the nuisance factor. As far as a non software issue my daughter did complain of how tired her fingers got in one part of the game closer toward the end as you do need to be fairly quick with some typed responses.

Although I will say it will not make my top most favorite game, I was glad I purchased it as the puzzles had a good range of difficulty, the interface with the game characters was something different, which type of thinking I will always encourage with my monies, knowing full well that some will not work out well, the game was of reasonable length and the story fit well for the most part with the puzzles. As the game having a military side to it I thought it was appropriate that information would be found in a lot of different files and I was not disappointed!
I would have liked to see more of the opening cut scene though that was some good work and nice eye candy.

As it works well with Vista we, (as in another daughter and I), will probably replay it again after a time.

Well there is my opinion for what it is worth. Now I must get busy loading up Rhem and Rhem 2 so I can get the boys and girls to gather around and wet their appetite for Rhem 3!

I am playing the Experiment and I must admit it does take time to get used to .I am enjoying the game and have got the hang of the camaras .Like searching for the eggs .I put one camaraup at a time and searched .There for you have nt got your screen cluttered up.When I find what I want I move her towards it .I feel quite proud of my self .Taking my time .I wish she would nt keep on at me though lol I wish she talked slower so I would nt have to keep going to the dialogue to see what she said .I have a feeling she is the experiment .

I'm very confused about this game. I didn't manage to play the demo. I was stuck at the very beginning at the tutorial. I only managed to continue with a little help from my friends (thanks dragon uk). But alas i stuck again a few minutes later hardwall . Don't know if i have the patient that is needed by this game. I'll think about it. Interesting idea from the creators though. Really something new in adventure games smile

Using a widescreen monitor didn't help me at all when trying the demo, if i am not using a native resolution for my monitor it looks way too blurry for me. Unfortunately most adventure games do not support widescreen.

I very rarely now bother to download demos for AGs - I can usually glean from reviews & comments here whether I want the game or not. There seems to be mixed feelings & I don't know, so downloading demo at the mo - I'm intrigued!! smile

Interesting, as Spock would say. I wonder why not? Do you have a download limit?

Hi looney4labs, no, no download limits - I don't know what the message was about as when I tried downloading again it just carried on from where it left off! duh I've now installed the
demo but can't play it as it 'cannot display in the video mode' sad - just posted over at glitches but I'm not too hopeful as I've had the same problem with other demos which wasn't resolved. smile

If you're having trouble with the demo running slowly -- I'm not sure if the demo allows you to access the Options menu, but if it does, you can adjust the resolution to a lower setting, as well as adjusting the shadows to a lower setting, and you can put the game in Window mode -- these changes might improve the demo's performance.

Just started this game. It is completely different from any other game but it looks very interesting once you get used to the different interface. I certainly will keep playing it. It's nice to see a new concept, even though you have to learn it. Sometimes I get tired of "the been there, done that" games.

Mind you , you may see me pulling out my hair as I progress.
