I purchased the 3 DVD set of Myst Masterpiece, Riven and Myst 3 Exile this Friday and just spent the most enjoyable weekend replaying Riven. I played it on XP and had no glitches at all. The places where I would have originally had to switch CD's came up as a error message but clicking OK on them closed them and advanced the game without any problems.

The sounds, images, music and everything else about the game seems much improved in the DVD version.

As for the game itself, it held up very well and, to my thinking, is still one of the best top 5 PC games ever produced. If you have the ability to play these classic games in their DVD versions, I highly recommend them.

I agree BF thumbsup
I played it through not long ago on DVD and not having to swap the cds (was it 6?) was great. Some of the graphics are a little limited (eg the underwater rail sequence) but it was still a delight.

the tram transport in Riven appears again in Myst 3 on one of the Ages and in myst 4 in similar guises. They had a good idea there and it was a welcome for them to reuse it.

One of my most fave games. keep it loaded and go to the Sunner Lagoon often to take a mini vacation! Loved the water effects in Riven! wonder how come no other game has even come close to those in it?...Several of the puzzles were stumpers for me but .. hey...we've got walkthroughs here! I don't know who the people were that worked on that particular game...but they should all get together again and try and give us another! to me none of the rest measured up!

I totally agree, Bruce. Riven tops my list every year.

I'm going to play the DVD version of Myst 3 Exile next. I remember the graphics of this game being striking so I imagine the DVD version will not be disappointing in this regard. The game itself was well done but not as intriguing as Riven. It did have a good hook in it re the revenge being sought against Atrus by the antagonist.
