In Day of the Tentacle you must put a hamster into a microwave - a futuristic microwave that only revives it (after being frozen) and doesn't kill it. You also get a warning against doing this in real life - something about being sent away I believe. The scene is a homage to Maniac Mansion where you could put the hamster in the microwave, show it to it's owner, have him kill you as a result.

You see, kids who put hamsters in microwaves back where I'm from get taken away from their parents and put up for adoption, so DON'T DO IT." I played through the game just last week, so I actually had a save lying around from just before that scene... Anyways, clue #1: Should I head down towards the village, or up towards IACTOR_VILLAGE_JUNGLE_LEAVETO_CLIFF_DESCNAME?
