Boomers, hi, One chapter ends... and another begins. Sadly, Rosemary and Gordon over at Quandary have decided to pursue other interests, and the site will be winding down. It was just becoming too difficult and time consuming to chase publishers and advertisers for the minimal results this produced. Ironically, the publishers of adventure games seem to be mostly interested in the mainstream sites - the very ones that almost universally pan the kind of games they are trying to peddle. But that's another story; and one that's been covered in many a Quandary editorial over the years. Indeed, Quandary is one of the oldest adventure and RPG review sites on the web, having emerged all the way back in 1995. But all is not lost. As it would be a shame to consign the 800+ (mostly) quality articles that have been written by the various contributors over the years (too many to thank here, you know who you are), to the virtual scrap heap, I have undertaken to archive the articles here, on my own new site: http://metzomagic.com/The very astute and prolific Steve Ramsey (most of you know him as 'flotsam') will still be churning out adventure game reviews there. I personally have gone over to the Dark Side lately, and will be concentrating my efforts on RPG reviews and in-depth guides. Be on the lookout for articles on The Witcher and Mass Effect. Not to mention Steve's XP Games Corner, which seems to have become my de facto hobby of late. In closing, I'd like to thank all of you Boomers who used to visit Quandary on a regular basis and contribute to the forums. We'll all miss the place So why don't you nick over to: http://www.quandaryland.com/ipb/index.phpand bid Rosemary and Gordon the fond farewell they deserve for flying the flag of adventure games for all those years! Best regards, MetzO'Magic

I've enjoyed the Quandary website for years now, and I'm very sad that it is closing down. The reviews at Quandary have always meant a refreshing, intriguing read, and I'll miss them very much. I'm glad that the database of reviews will still be available at MetzO'Magic's website -- there's a lot of information there that is extremely helpful for anyone who plays adventure games. Thanks for letting us know, Metzo.

Sorry to hear that Metzo, it's always sad to see good things come to an end. I wish them the best of luck in whatever they pursue. Ana

It is always sad to see a good site go down, I find I registered some months ago, but and the registration went fine, but I never made it through the preview process. I know this since I just tried to log in at Quandaryland and couldn't. I just wanted to tell the people at Quandaryæand how sad this feels to me - even if I only was registered since March 2008 or so. However, if the owner (rosemary and gordon) already knew in March 2008 that they were to close the site down 3-4 months later, then I understand why I didn't make it through the preview process. I might have, though, but sometimes my email program just block incoming mail. Very annoying, I find... I'm thankfull that Steve and metzomagic are going to archive the excellent articles, reviews, walkthroughs and editorials. Thank you so much for this And thank you to Rosemary and Gordon for all their hard work over the years - even if I'm a tad late to the party...

Metzo, I'm so sorry to read that Quandary is closing. I always meant to but somehow never managed to join. However, I frequently visited the site to read the articles, reviews, and walkthroughs. It's good to know that you've transported all of that over to your site, which I have bookmarked. Since I'm not a member, please give Rosemary and Gordan my thanks for all their time and effort to keep Quandary up and running. Also, please tell them I wish them the very best in the future. Jema

Thanks Steve. I bookmarked it. I recognize Gabe and Tex, and April? Not sure about the Frankenstein guy. I have to say I like your taste in games.
I send my best wishes to the Quandary Land crew for all they have done.
Respectfully, Albert Albert, hi, And thanks for the kind words. The 'Frankenstein guy' is none other than 'The Nameless One', the protagonist from one of the best (if not *the* best) role-playing games ever made: The metzomagic.com review of Planescape: TormentYou really should check that one out if you happen to dabble in the Dark Side games And... that's actually Zoe Castillo from Dreamfall: The Longest journey, rather than April Ryan from the original game. But you were close Best regards, MetzO'Magic

I'm glad that you are carrying on with your own site, Metzo I'm sorry to see Quandary disappear into the void but happy that you will be the one to archive. So does this mean that we will see more of you in Glitches? :inferno hopes hopefully: inferno

I went to the Quandary site and bid my farewell and would like to add those sentiments here. The site will be missed by more than you know. I received almost all my game help from here and Quandary and am more than grateful.
I have one question. Since you are still going to be around Steve, where can one go to obtain assistance from you and your wealth of knowledge and experience?

oldman (John?), hi, I have one question. Since you are still going to be around Steve, where can one go to obtain assistance from you and your wealth of knowledge and experience? Don't worry, Steve's XP Games Corner is still very much in the the thick of things! That's where I'm archiving all the Quandary stuff, on my new site: http://metzomagic.com/No forum on the new site (too much for one person to cope with), so we have to do things by e-mail. But please feel free to shoot any questions you may have my way. That's what I'm there for Cheers, MetzO'Magic

Good to know Steve. I've gotten so much help from you in the past both from reading your writings in the Steve's XP Corner and asking personal questions. Glad that resource will still be available.
Good luck with your new site I guess that's the new chapter beginning. It is bookmarked.
