I'm not sure whether to post here or on glitches because I don't know if it's me or the game. I am having trouble with the inventory, I am currently at the beginning and analysing the cloth etc, I right click to go into Inventory and then left click to pick up, I then have to keep the left button down to hold on to the item and at the same time right click to leave the inventory, this doesn't always work and I often have to click several times, but now I can't pick up the stained rope at all it just keeps going back into the inventory. Help....

Hi monbron,

Make sure not to drag the item out of inventory. Left-click on the item you need, and you'll see the box highlighted around the edges. Right-click to back out of inventory view and you should see the item appear at top right of your screen. Now left-click on whatever object you would like to use it with. luck

Is it me or is there a problem with the game?? I couldn't access the map at all at Black Eidelweiss, and now only sporadically in New Orleans, which can be a problem if you haven't been to a place before and don't know your way.

You must be playing the first version, not the remastered.
The remastered has the map, the original does not have one.
Also the map in NO is also less in original version.

OK now I am stuck, I have finished in the French Quarter, and need to jump back to the port area, but the map won't let me, I have tried running down all the streets, but realise I need the map to work - only it won't take me any where, all I get is Sherlock saying Watson we need to run, any ideas? oops

Whereabouts are you now, monbron - still in the French Quarter, or back in the main area near the riverboats? You should have a map jumpspot to Champagne's hut, can you use that?

No I can't get out of the French Quarter, I am wondering if I have a dodgy game or whether there is a patch, I did look up patches but the 2 sites I found did not mention that problem, do you think I have a bad DVD, it obviously is the first version as per Mag's post above, it will be a shame if it is the DVD as it is a triple SH game and it may mean that the other 2 are also bad.

monbron,

Go outside the front of the mansion. Walk-run there. There is a cutscene that might take time loading up. This happens only if Holmes say - we better run - like in your game.
Wait a bit it might take time to load.

Thank you MaG, I couldn't get the cutscene to run so I decided to do the French Quarter again, but now I am stuck in the bedroom the safe will not appear, it did last time and I have gone over and over the room and have checked that I have all things in the Inventory and reread them, but still no safe!! what am I doing wrong? (apart from being me of course) sick

It's possibly a footprint or a bloodstain that you've missed examining somewhere along the line, monbron. There are a couple of stains on the wall/door frame just off the main living room area that are tricky to spot, so go back over that area thoroughly. Have you checked all footprints in the hall also?

Thank you Rushes, I had missed a blood print, but the trouble is I can't get Sherlock to talk about running any more, I have replayed the game FOUR times and I am positive I'm not missing anything, but he doesn't mention an old man or a lady either as per the w/t, so I'm well and truly stumped.

If you finished everything at French Quarter - see if you can just use the map and jump to the pier area.
