Right I have upgraded my computer, new graphics, more memory and new DVD drive, I have just tried to use the map and hung around waiting for the cutsecene, but nothing, so I am going to abandon this game for the time being and try the other 2 which are on the same disc to see if they play OK, of course it could be me as in the past but I really can't see what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for your help, if you have any other ideas I will try but we seem to have exhausted all your wonderful help and ideas.

monbron, I still have all my saves for this game (the original version). Would you like me to send you one closest to where you are after the French Quarter?

Duh!!! I never thought of a saved game, Yes Please, I am stuck at the end of the first French Quarter where I should go back to the Port and speak to Madam, I have noticed that I have a bad scratch in the disc, I am always careful but it could have been there when I bought it, but I can't help wondering if this is causing the problems. duh

monbron, I've checked my saves and I have one at the point where Holmes & Watson are approaching the pier and need to examine the rope there. You should then be able to click on the Port District in the map and go straight there. Sending across to you now - it's a large file, so I have zipped it. luck

Thank you for the saves Rushes, I thought I would post for future reference as to where I located my save file for Awakened. It is NOT in programme files as one would expect, after a long search I located it in Documents&settings\Logon\Mydocuments\games\TheAwakened\Saves. I noticed that Sherlock Holmes Nemesis was there as well, plus some other gamesaves - weird but there we are. smirk

Completely different to my own file location for The Awakened! woozy Glad you found it, monbron. Enjoy the rest of the game.

I finally got around to loading the save and it works - great, the part you sent me is quite different to the one I had, maybe one day I will replay it and try to get it right. There sure are a lot of people playing The Awakened at the moment. thanks

It's a really fun game, I'm going to reinstall it for another play through pretty soon, I think.

I was doing really well, I am at the lighthouse, and in the caves past the crank machine and at the gate, I found my wooden leg and it will not work, I couldn't get any closer to the door I'm squashing my nose but all Sherlock keeps saying is 'only a person with a wooden leg could open this door' Ihave the leg highlighted in the Inventory and the hand curser is on the hole, but Sherlock won't accept it. Any ideas?? think

OK forget that I went back and kept on trying and it accepted my poor old leg eventually.

Are you making sure to stand over the footprint?

Edit: Glad you made it through!

I have a question/problem. I am in the swamp and I cannot get the boat to respond to my mouse. It is all over the place. I thought, perhaps, it was the batteries in the mouse and replaced them with new one but there really isn't any difference. I have noticed that the control of the mouse in this whole game is flaky. Is that true for everyone playing it? My mouse is a cordless one and works fine in any other game and online.

I went to BFG and it seems this is a common problem. It concerns going to the game options and setting all graphics to minumum and setting water reflections and shadows to Off. I did it and the game now works fine.
