A Vampyre Story

Well I can not seam to stop doing these reviews. They are pretty fun to put together and to think critically about the games rather than just playing them.. and as I am pretty much constantly playing adventure games it is not like I am going to run out. Still they do take time and I am pretty sure I will be done with it for a while (though I remember saying that after I did the one for The Dig)

Anyway in this review I have chosen to do a modern title, probably one of the few I will do for the foreseeable future as my heart is really in retro adventure games, for some reason the new games just do not have the same power over me. Still I did like this game and have tried to use this review to talk less about if the game is good or bad but to discuss some ideas about adventure game design that is illustrated in this game.

Anyway... hope you like it and as always I welcome any comments.

Great review, Adventurer4Life!
I have just finished "A Vampyre Story", and enjoyed it enormously!
What a pleasant change from some of the cookie-cutter
games we have been force fed as of late.
Eagerly anticipating the sequal!

thanks for the review wave

This is one of the few games that I started but never finished. I'll get to it one day--Maybe the next chapters will be out by then puppy

Yes I will be pre-ordering it as soon as I am able. I am a little worried about how they have dumped mona and you play only as Frodrick for the majority of the game. As the conversational back and forth between the bat and the camp was a highlight of this title... Still we will see how it goes.

Yea, I know a few people that are in the same boat. Personally I think this is the best modern game I have played in years and can not see how anyone could stop playing it. It was easy enough that the game kept unfolding and long enough that the easiness didn't mean you had a short game play experience. I dunno.. each to there own.. but imo this game was just a joy form start to finish.

My recommendation is not to wait. The game is fairly long and I think playing them back to back might be a bit of a marathon smile

Also if you got the game at release, try it again.. they have a pretty hefty patch out now that fixes like pretty much all the bugs.. I only found a few glitches on this play though for the review but others I know that played it found it hard going because of bugs and stuff.

I would have no objections to a "marathon" at all grin
Although I probably wouldn't play the chapters back to back. I just don't want to play them years apart lol

[The Runaway series comes to mind duh]

I really like the way you did your review. Not every video review is so successful at working scenes from the game into the commentary. Your review is better than many "professional" video reviews I've seen.
