I hope I am in the correct forum. I have a question regarding a problem with accessing a site from the forum for adventure games helps and hints...I asked a question some time ago about a game called Dracula, The Last Sanctuary..if you look at my posts you'll see where I was shown an access site for saved games...at that time I was able to click on the link provided and had no problem getting to the saved games on another site...today I wanted to try to access that again but when I click on the thread provided it does nothing....I think it possibly is my computer. Can anyone help me out with this issue and give me any possible reasons for this problem. As I said I accessed the thread without any issues before. Thank you... p.s. I also notice (just today this started) when I try to access some internet sites I get an error on page message and I can't get to the area I am tyring to access...???Never happend to me before...really stumped on this one.

Hi, Linda. I just tried to use that same link and my Windows 7 alerted it as an "attack site." It might be a site which was hijacked, but it now appears to contain several malicious links in it. I think the original link may have been redirected to somewhere else.

Let's see if anyone else has any problems with it.

A few days ago a gamer asked for a save for a game- and was given this address- I used to go there- BUT everyone one found out quickly that there is a major problem with the link.
Don't know if anything has been done or further research done on it-- but for now Please Stay Away from it--

Wow, I just went to the link in my Ubuntu Linux OS and it didn't alert me as Windows 7 did. That's exactly the website...

Looks like your computer was doing you a favor, Linda!

Thank you for the informatiion. I wouldn't have even thought of the link being the issue. It just didn't occur to me that the problem could be there. Thank you again.

Linda, just fyi, this is the message I get from Windows 7...

Reported Attack Site!

This web site at www.nicouzouf.com has been reported as an attack site and has been blocked based on your security preferences.

Attack sites try to install programs that steal private information, use your computer to attack others, or damage your system.

Some attack sites intentionally distribute harmful software, but many are compromised without the knowledge or permission of their owners

For what it's worth:

I clicked on the links provided by Winfrey and Draclvr and was connected to the site both times without getting an "attack" warning.

I then tried the link MaG gave Linda for Dracula saves and was connected to the Dracula saves on that site - again without a warning.

I noticed that Draclvr also didn't get the warning when she used her Linux OS.

If Winfrey is also using Windows 7, could it be that only Windows 7 users are getting the warning?

I will boot up one of my XP drives and see if I get the warning with it. Winfrey is using XP.

Apparently it's not just Windows 7 think the site is unsafe.

Here's what Norton Internet Security has to say:

nicouzouf.com

From the report -

JA+ had a similar issue with a banner they were displaying on the main site - IIRC they eventually had to take it off the page.

Thanks everyone for answering my question about whether or not it is only Windows 7 users getting the warning.

I don't have MDAC installed on my system, and since all 3 of the threats found by Norton involve MDAC, does that mean I would not be at risk if I visit the site in question?

Thanks.

I wouldn't advise going there until they fix the problem

http://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=nicouzouf.com&x=0&y=0

I can't tell for sure if they're saying the website actually has these "drive-by downloads" or whether the Norton site is saying the website's software is vulnerable to a hack that allows an attacker to insert "drive-by download" software into the website that will affect people who visit the website.

Quote:
A drive-by download is computer code that takes advantage of a software bug in a Web browser to make it do something that the attacker wants—such as run malicious code, crash the browser, or read data from the computer. Software bugs that are open to browser attacks are also known as vulnerabilities.

I take this opportunity to clarify the situation about nicouzouf.com (aka PC Savegames), being its webmaster.
My site seems to have been hijacked a few weeks ago. I didn't notice it before because my private life is quite busy since august (I bought a house where I have been working every day the last 3 months to renovate it) and I didn't have time enough to care about PC Savegames. PC Savegames won't be update with new savegames for the next 2 or 3 months, but I will have a closer look on the security aspect.
This episode will be quite a lesson to me.
I made a complete statement on the homepage of the site http://www.nicouzouf.com/en/ (you can read it safely, the site has been cleaned up, you won't have any security alert from your AV or from your browser). See http://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=nicouzouf.com&x=0&y=0
Despite this incident, I hope PC Savegames will keep your confidence.
