European video game developer Wax Lyrical Games announced the production of their latest adventure-puzzle game, Wittard: Nemesis of Ragnarok. Wax Lyrical Games was established by freelance developers Alan Thorn and Marlies Maalderink. Wittard: Nemesis of Ragnarok is its first game. The eccentric architect Baron Wittard has built something really special: a city inside a building. This monumental pleasure dome, called 'The Utopia', features 1000 apartments, a shopping mall, and hundreds of offices and leisure facilities. All under one roof. Its grand opening was supposed to have been two years ago. That event never happened. A chain of mysterious events has now left the Utopia abandoned and silent. People have gone missing. Electromagnetic disturbances are increasing. These happenings all point to Wittard's desolate Utopia. Armed with only a camera and a torch, you must journey there alone to explore its winding corridors, its secret passageways, and its gloomy halls. Local townspeople say Wittard kept a terrible secret. They speak fearfully of someone or something malevolent lurking at his city. They say it is waiting and growing in power. They say time is running out... “It can be both an enchanting and enthralling experience to explore the abandoned remains of an old building that time forgot. It has been our intention at Wax Lyrical Games to recreate and dramatise that experience in a video game”, says writer and designer Alan Thorn. “Wittard embodies this intention. It throws the gamer into a massive and mysterious ruin in the middle of nowhere. Then it leaves them there unaided to explore its darkest depths and to solve its unnerving mysteries”.
To mark this announcement, Wax Lyrical Games has launched the official website that features game news, information, screen shots and other media. You can see some screenshots in our gallery HERE.:the game will be first person perspective, and non-linear, and the planned released will be 2010, hopefully both on hard copy and digital download.

First let me say...WOW! It looks great and if it is indeed an adventure game on the line of games like the Myst Games, Schizm or the likes of Rhem then I am all for it and will anxiously wait for more. First Person, Solo Exploration, Non-Linear Puzzle Game? I am drooling. But I am going to error on the side of caution here and suspect this to be another Casual Game. I would like for the developers to chime in here and tell me otherwise which would be great. I also wish they would further explain "Controls Supported: Mouse, Keyboard, Wii Remote"
So what do you say Wax Lyrical, can you fill us in more?

So what do you say Wax Lyrical, can you fill us in more? Hello There. Thank you for your interest in the game. I would like to answer your questions regarding this. Wittard will be a first person, non-linear, solo-exploration graphic adventure, NOT a casual or hidden object game. It is a blend of styles, similar to Myst Revelations and Shivers I and II. Like Myst, it does not feature an inventory, except for a few crucial items, and it features object manipulation puzzles. It also features a very similar control system. Like Shivers, it is colourful and features some brainteaser-logic style puzzles. It features a lot of exploration and is light on reading. Regarding the controls. The game can be controlled completely using any one of the following: mouse, keyboard or Wii remote. It can be entirely mouse driven, or entirely keyboard driven, or Wii remote driven, according to your liking. I hope this answers your questions

Yes, Thank you Alan Thorn for answering those questions and so swiftly. This is fantastic news as this type of adventure game is rarely found lately. By the way, if you look outside your door you will find me camped out, anxiously waiting to be the first one to grab your game when it is released. It is a blend of styles, similar to Myst Revelations and Shivers I and II = Priceless
