2. True -as far as it goes.
Actually this is a narrow definition as "Indians" moved around and could be found in Canada and probably Mexico.
However, a more accurate definition is a group of people believed to migrate from Asia over the Bering Strait when there was still a land bridge. They filled up both North and South America but the term American Indian is normally reserved for those peoples living in the area of the United States.

And from what I have read, there have been Native Americans here far longer than
peoples of either England or Northern Europe.
