After looking forward to this game - I just found out yesterday that it uses lots more RAM than my 512 MB DDR.

I have been putting off getting the new computer as it is such a hassle trying to load everything, but it looks like it is time.

I am as disappointed as HorseDancer... except I excitedly (yet stupidly) bought it without checking the reqs.
I assumed it was comparable to the last game, MCF: Return to Ravenhearst (which only required a 800 Mhz CPU and 512 MB of RAM).

I have a 2.1 GHz CPU with maxed out RAM of 1024MB and a ATI Radeon X1550 AGP card.

This game does indeed have poor performance on my machine.
I wish I had read this thread earlier... and meanwhile I'll try not to obsess that my barely three year old desktop will soon be obsolete for even casual games.
