Lohen, the same nasty stereotypes about being lazy men existed here in the US about many others at one time, if that's any consolation. I could also recount bad stereotypes about the English, French, Germans, and Italians.
No one is immune.
The US is a vast nation and we even have bad stereotypes for each other here, e.g., Wisconsin person = Cheesehead. New York, whether city or state, would rate a complete volume. No one likes New Yorkers; they don't even like themselves, or so it's said. Ask a person from the South (i.e., the old Confederacy) what "Yankee" means and prepare to have your ears burned. So, cheer up and don't take it personally.
