Hi!

I have looked through the older posts for this game and didn't see my question, so please excuse me if I am repeating something. Like several others, I also had trouble with the cursor "floating" and I turned back the mouse speed and also took off the animated cursor. Don't know what an animated cursor is but I turned it off and now the game seems to be working.

I am at the beginning of the game and Lara has gone to Imterpol. I couldn't get the pen to work on the painting in the lab so I have gone to her office instead. I am trying to change the battery on the cell phoone. If I click on the phone, Lara comments that it is dead and I can't do anything else with it. The walkthrough says that I should use the arrows to look at the back of the cell phone but I don't have any arrows.

Could turning off the animated cursor have caused the arrows to disappear? Maybe that is why I couldn't get the permanent pen to work on the painting? As some of the other posts asked, I did get asked on the installation to update my DirectX to version 9 and I did.

How do I change the batteries in the cell without the arrows to turn it around?

Thanks for your help.

Hi gatsbygirl,

Right-click on the phone to examine it in close-up.

At the bottom of the close-up screen you should see two white arrows on a red background, click either of those to turn the phone around.

luck

Rushes,

I right clicked, left clicked, right clicked etc. but could never get a close-up and didn't see any arrows. There was a red box around it when I tried to access it from the inventory but then I couldn't do anything with it.

The same thing happened when I tried to work on the painting in the lab. When I clicked on the marker there was an icon showing that I could either right click or left click to perform the function but nothing happened. It never left my inventory. I couldn't use it. I kept getting the message that I shouldn't mark on the painting (or something like that).

That's why I was wondering if turning off the animated cursor and turning the mouse power down might have caused the problem. But if I left it on, the game was jerky and the cursor seemed to float around the screen.

Maybe I am still doing something wrong even though I have done all of the things mentioned. I am at work but will try again tonight.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if turning off the animated cursor would make a difference. headscratch Could you turn it back on temporarily to check?

Has the new battery for the phone been delivered already? It should be on your office desk on top of a piece of paper. You might need to have this before you're able to right-click and examine the phone in close-up.

Let us know how you get on.

I tried again. I plugged in thecharger but when I click on the cell phone in inventory it says "cell phoner with dead battery." I have tried to click on it and the charger but she sayas something like "better not unplug this chrager" or something like that. I don't have a new battery on the desk. Is that something that I need to find?

You might try changing things in the options menu -- these suggestions come from the GB Glitches forum:
Quote:
There are several options available under the in-game settings - lower AA, Texture Filtering, Mip Mapping, Shader Quality and Vertical Sync to their lowest settings. Also ensure Dynamic Shadows and Reflections are disabled.

The only other thing I could think of would be to make sure you've done everything described in the walkthrough up to this point, just in case there's a small hidden trigger somewhere -- did you read all the emails on the computer, look at all the notices on the bulletin board, that sort of thing.

Thanks, Becky.

gatsbygirl,

Move the cursor at side of batter or any item. See if the turn arrows appear then.

Review:
Be sure that you checked the computer and have read Pierre's mail.
Then know that your cellphone battery is low.
Dial 513 to talk to Jennings about the cell phone battery.
After doing the favor Pierre asked, get new battery. Replace the old one with this new one.
