With three awards, developer and publisher Daedalic Entertainment was one of the big winners at the 6th German Game Developer Award ceremony in Essen, Germany on December 9. The company was honoured as “Studio of the Year 2009” by the Award Advisory Board and took home “Best Story” and “Best Teen Game” accolades for its fantasy adventure game “The Whispered World”. Daedalic is only the second studio to receive the award as “Studio of the Year” and follows last year’s winner Crtyek.
„We are very proud to be named development studio of the year and thank the Advisory Board fort his extraordinary honour. This award is an affirmation of our work since the company’s inception in early 2007, but also a responsibility towards the German developer industry going forward,” said Carsten Fichtelmann, Daedalic’s managing director.
The German Game Developer Award is handed out every year in December to outstanding computer and video games from German developers released in the last 12 months. The games are judged not according to commercial success, but on innovation, game design, ease of use and technical excellence.
The beautiful adventure game “The Whispered World” whisks the player away to a unique and fascinating hand-painted fantasy world. It is set for international release in the first quarter of 2010.
