This is the error message I get and then the screen goes black,running win xp

Hmm... Are you using a language other than English as your main language in Windows? Also, did you install everything that came with the game installation? After the game installs, it automatically attempts to install the Mideo video codec, along with the OGG audio codec. If you don't install these, the game won't work.

If none of these are the issue, then would you consider e-mailing me your system specs so that I can look into this issue further? Thanks, and sorry for the trouble!

Sent an e-mail back for you. The problem is that you are missing an essential system file that is installed with Windows XP by default. I've included steps on how to fix this error in the e-mail.
