Hi, deleterman!
I dug out my game manual, and here are the various controls:
Once the room has loaded, press the spacebar. To move forward or backward, move the mouse in the direction you want to move. To turn left or right, move the mouse left or right. To stop, press the spacebasr again. To tilt your view up or down, press the up or down arrow. To raise or lower your view, press the left shift or ctrl key.
I hope this helps. It may take awhile to get used to the controls, but you'll be a pro in no time!

Hi, deleterman!
You're very welcome. When you move your cursor over something you can interact with (a door or inventory item), I believe Tex will describe the item first and then you should have the option to look at, open or get it.
Once you've visited a location by foot, it will appear on your travel map, so you won't have to worry about doors for too long.
Have fun!

All I remember is that you have to press the spacebar to stop your movement...and then ....click on the door?

Hi, deleterman!
The Tex Murphy series is one of my all-time favorites and, even though the graphics are archaic by today's standards, they're still enjoyable.
Have fun!

Hi,
Like you I'm learning controls the hard way, I found the keyboard will work like this (l-look,m-move,g-get,o-open,arrow up raises camera, arrow down lowers) use mouse to go forward, back, right, left. similar to G K III, I hope this helps so far I'm getting there. Keep trying interesting story so far. Charllotte

I also used the page up, page down, home, end, insert, delete buttons. A couple have Tex glide sideways left and right, another couple have him looking up or down, then the last two have him crouch down or stand taller so he can see stuff that's high up.

I have the 6 CD version. I couldn't get it to run on WindowsXP so I had to learn how to use DOSbox for the first time. Thanx to kind folk on Glitches, and of course to Inferno's wonderful tutorial on GB,I think I have mastered Dosbox - it took quite a bit of learning but I think I've got it going 100%. http://www.gameboomers.com/forum/ubbthre...html#Post593209But now although P.D. installs OK and everything works fine including even the intro, I can't start a new game. Please see http://www.gameboomers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/593578/PandoraDirective-Can'tPlayNew-.html#Post593578 If anybody can help with this I would be very thankful.

Ouch this maybe be tough. When I went to the map from where I'm at now, no Chelsea, but after the cabin, and after Louis the first time Chelsea was on the map. Did you talk about or mention how mad she would be after you got knocked out? Did you get from the room you searched, Warehouse bus card, airmail envelope and photograph (child), pic of Mallory and llama, book, pawn ticket, and scarf, and letter? Look in envelope? I did replay several times. The may be very lineral (misp), you might have to go back to Louis. Best of luck I will keep helping as much as I can. P.S. If you missed something in the room maybe you can go back to there. Charllotte

@deleterman When everything else fails, then simply visit or open every door you can - interact with everything. You may get lucky

Hi, Do you know where Rook's pawn shop it? If you do go there, turn your back to it, turn to the right and you should see the Pink Flamingo. (If it doesn't show up you may have missed a trigger) Hope this helps. It's on the same street as the electronic shop. Charllotte

Hi deleterman, This took me some time and I have been shot everyday for about a week, but finaly made it. Start by finding the stairs, so you know where you're going. To duck down use the control key, hurry up and down the stairs and do a save behind the air conditioner, then you can peek up and try to get himn when he isn't looking. Yes, you'll get shot several times but if I can do it you can. Charllotte PS this is as far as I have gotten so far.

Hi, I went back and replayed this section I hope I can make it clear. Go to the sewer manhole cover behind Rooks pawn shop. (must be from Rooks) If you use the map you should be able to get there. Go down into the sewer. Turn on the device. You go into inventory, examine, turn on, exit, you should hear beeping. Turn your back to the ladder go forward to junction turn left, go forward very slowly the beeps will get faster. Watch the center of the roof for roots hanging down the second set of roots the device should be very fast, turn right for a move brick. This is in the second section. Hope that helps. Charllotte

So far not doing to good, but an old walkthrough says as soon as you enter turn left and (press r)around the corner and to the mess hall on the left. I haven't made it yet as been busy. I will keep trying and hope to figure it out. No maps that I can find. In game or anywhere. We may have to play to make a map. PS I went back and played the way you got though without being blown up. Tricky WOW after doing it the hard way! Easy Charllotte

Hi Go back to the first floor, to the door you blew up to come in. No you don't have to go through the lazer field, just through now you can access your map. I'd better hurry up as you're right on my heels. Charllotte

In the ducts there are several places that have spinning fans. You can make the abductor rise up to go over them when you get to them. You should have run up to a fan by now, though. Sure you went down ALL the pathways in the ducts? They're all labeled....J1, J2 - 1st and 2nd floors, etc.

Hi, Go back to the first floor where you first came in and instead of going left go right to the dead end open the door (it isn't marked)and there is your fan. That's the start. By the way I found if you press F1 there are the how to's. I believe it is on the second page, see the down arrow on the lower right side. Then click on Alien Abductor arrow. You have to use the Alien Abductor in inside of the game. Not that far ahead. Hope this helps. Charllotte

Hi, Turn right (this is at the door you blew up)go to the door that is at the end of the hallway, open it see you are in the fan room. Use the weight bar on the fan, use the Alien Abductor on the opening in the fan. (if you haven't yet make your abductor by combining, batteries, with abductor and remote.)Now you are as far as I am. Hi, Okay now use you alien Abductor on the broken fan. That will take you through and bring up the abductor screen, now carefully use the arrow keys to look behind you, you will see the broken fan. Now turn your back to the fan an go forward slowly, it shows you in a hall check and follow the signs, you will see a down arrow, go down. (you need to find J-5) go right from there. No fans to go through until you go down. Hope this helps. I will play some more running a bit late, Charllotte

It's like traversing a maze. You keep track of where you are by looking at the wall's markings - J1, etc. 1 means 1st floor. J is the hallway.

Hi deleterman, This is my first time to play this game. I do a lot of saving and replaying as I go and a lot of writing things down. I find some parts are harder, and then again I keep seeing parts where some of the newer games have gotten their ideas. Not copies but ideas. What goes around comes around. Charllotte

Hi, Save before you start this is the only reset I found. Key in 186 enter,7AC enter, Must hit enter, this should bring up so you can drag, right, left,up, or down. Starting moves 122L,106L,168D,149D,150D,177R,176R, If you need the rest of the puzzle let me know. I see you have the puzzle done, to get back to the hall, press the home button on the abductor, that will take you back to the hall, then go back to the lazer doorway through and home. Charllotte

The "elevator" is on the floor by the masks on the wall. Just step onto it and it'll automatically go up.

Hi, To get to the second floor go between the book case where you see the masks see the two rails, just step on and up you go. Use bamboo pole to turn off alarm orange button, use pole to get plaque on wall over the door. See the back, shows the figures, you set the inside circle and the outside circle, then press the button on the right side a green light will move over under the next picture. I hope this helps. On left side on puzzle set sept 8, right side 4 ahau, push button left side to move light over under next pic, set left May 20, right 10 chuen, push button to move light over under next pic. left Apr 17, right 3 mulec, push button to move light under last one, set left July 12, right 11men, push button on right side. Hope this helps. Charllotte

Hi deleterman, You should have bought the book from Rook at the pawn shop. You have to ask him about the Yucatan language and he will sell you a book for $30.00,I think you should be able to travel from the Garden house to Rooks Pawn shop. I'll go back and give it a try if you want. Charllotte PS Yep I was able to travel to Rooks Pawn shop. I couldn't ask about the book as I already had it, but I think you are lucky here.

Hi, Keep talking to him use the letter that you have to have translated, ask about Yucatan. I kept stuttering around until he talked about it. Also look at any books he may have. I Will replay this part later to get you better instructions if this doesn't work. Charllotte You can do this.

This is the hardest puzzle so far, all the pieces from witt's box needs to encircle the step pyramid. The lower left corner is dark. As a start the "c" piece fits in the bottom left corner, above it is a parellagram (msp), the far lower right corner is the large triangle. Notice the pieces are light and dark, the lightest pieces are at the top right corner. The smaller triangle fits point down in the tier far right corner. After you get this done examine to get power cell. You have to do this first to get powercell. The other puzzle are parts that go with the power cell of the pandora unit. Hope that helps. Charllotte

Hi, Make sure you examine everything in inventory. Make sure you decipher the letters by combining letters with the book. Combine the pieces from Witt's box with the box that was in the package on the bed. That should bring up the puzzle. That will help you open the box. I hope I cleared this up for you. You might have to try combing with the other boxes but I'm sure you have open them by now. Charllotte

Hi, You may have to go back to Witt's, if you haven't done this. You needed to read the note that you picked off of Witt's bed, and the book on the calender. This is very hard. You have to open Witt's box to get the pieces. I hope you can do it at the Garden House where you are at now. Left to right (Sept 8, 4 ahau,) (May 20, 10 Chuen) (April 17, 3 muluc) (July 12,11 men) This shoud open Witt's box. Charllotte
