marie Addicted Boomer Registered: 11/28/06 Posts: 1562 Loc: Indiana	I'm curious how many people are interested in buying the new game console for DS when its realeased in (March for UK) and (No release date for US yet) I'm personally going to get it when its released, I love the idea of that larger screen.I don't know what color I'll get yet, wine red, white, brown or black. There are a lot of videos on youtube on the Dsi LL and XL that have intrigued me and I don't see a downside to buying one, even though the size is much larger than my DSi. As I am soon to hit the half century mark, my eyes will appreciate the larger viewing area.I saw some of those videos on you-tube.Very cool.I also have about 20 unplayed games to catch up on( that does not include the 20 or so PC games, and the 20 or so cacual games, or the games I am playing on PS3,Wii or Xbox). I was looking again yesterday to see if a release date has been announced. I have the DS Lite so the XL will seem a lot bigger to me. I like my DS but do have trouble seeing some things on it. I assume that all of my DS games will play on the XL. Thanks for starting this thread. I want all the info I can about it and the release date.

If you see a release date for the US please let us know, thanks. The only thing I could wish for is that they had a pink version, I'm just over the color PINK. thracia, Yes your correct LL for Japan and XL for the US. Gamestop gave you credit towards the purchase of the DSi if you traded in your DS.

marie Addicted Boomer Registered: 11/28/06 Posts: 1562 Loc: Indiana	That would be great ramona if Gamestop gave out the credit for the new XL, but for me personally, I probably wouldn't do it since I've customized mine with a Pink Heart skin and also covered it with a Pink Nerf Robo Armor.I did the pink stuff because when I bought mine the color pink wasn't out yet. thracia, That's exactly what happened with me, I thnk there was only black and white at the time. katbear, I saw a video that showed another game bundled with the new XL, I believe it was some kind of brain trainer. Sure enough pink came out after I had the black one. I wish they would just come out with the pink one right at the start. I think I will when I get extra dough buy a pink skin for my DSi. Glad there is a thread on this.

I just checked on www.nintendolife.com and the preloaded applications on the DSi XL with be Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training: Arts Edition and Dictonary 6 in 1 with a camera feature. You can take a picture of a word say in a foreign language and it will translate it for you. Also included is the DSi browser.

It will be available on March 5, on both the continent and in the UK, in red and dark brown. The Nintendo DSi XL is essentially a Nintendo DSi, only with much larger screens and a bigger, more comfortable stylus. How much credit do they usually give for a trade? Don't know what the price of the XL will be but trading would really help make the price more affordable. I was at Gamestop yesterday and asked about the DS XL and they said that they haven't heard yet when they will get it or what the price will be.

I also like that fact that it has a book reader, I have a small wallet size one now so that will be a big improvement for me. I never went in for the cluncky Kindle one much too large for my purse. Some people, on other sites, have said that the screen will have too much pixilization (sp?) and won't look good because the screen will be too big. I don't know much about that kind of thing but I am hoping that the images on it look really good. Also, a lot of people seem to feel that the price is too high. I am relieved because I was afraid that it would be well over $200.00

I don't think that the pixilation will be any problem, there supposed to be bigger but there's no screen stretching according to Nintendo, and the videos that I have seen so far of game footage look pretty darn good to me.

I have a DS Lite and I believe he said that the DS XL will cost me $129.00. If you had a DSi, the price becomes even cheaper, $99.00, I think. He gave me a flyer about it. They are taking pre-orders, as of today. I can't wait to order one and having the trade-in option makes it so much more affordable.

I have the DSlite which I paid $129 for, which would be about the same price for the new Xl with the trade in. I also found an article about the new Xl having a DS Card slot and a SD memory card slot/ I would imagine that you can use the SD card slot for for those photos they say you can store and play and probably also use it for the Book Reader, possibly you can play the MP songs too although I'll have to wait to see if it can do that. Most SD cards had considerable storage space, mine have 2gigs.

I'm fairly sceptical of this information and would ck several sources before I bought into this. Although there is a next generation DS in the works I don't really think will see it that soon. Whimsical Shy Boomer Registered: 11/12/06 Posts: 78 Loc: Ohio	@thracia I've heard it will have a faster processor and wireless connection capabilities, tilt controls and better graphics, as well as the larger screen from the DSiXL. @marie Several sources ARE reporting this, albeit all of them reporting it as rumor. As I understand it, the original plan was not to release the DS2 for another year or two, but Nintendo is rapidly losing ground in the handheld and casual gaming areas to the Iphone and Itouch, and seems to think they have no other choice but to move their next generation handheld forward in order to make up the lost ground.

Played Brain Age and it said I have the brain of a 71 yo! Just started playing last night for a little while. I haven't tried to set up the Internet part because my router needs to be reconnected. I think that my son is coming over to do that for me today while I am at work. Hopefully, getting online with it won't be too difficult to do since I have never downloaded games to the DS or Wii. Sounds like you might have had some trouble. When I first tried to play Brain Age on my old DS, it said that my brain was 80 years old!! A friend said that she got the same message so I was wondering if everyone got the same age in the beginning. You are ahead since it said that you are only 71! Guess I had better get to work!

I had to go to advanced setup on the XL, then press and hold some button on the top of my router, while the two communicated. That was it! Now I don't feel so bad about havig an old brain. There are adventue games, puzzle games, HO games, etc.(I saw Dream Chronicles, for example at Best Buy for 19.99).You could go to the Gamestop website and look up the games under the different genre's,(there are lots of games of all kinds). He called me at work to tell me that he was watching a YouTube video on it and checking his email. I didn't have to mess with trying to figure out how to set it up. It is really so neat to be able to do this. I really like the XL and am so glad that I traded my other one in for it.

I found the items in Millionheir too hard to see on the DS lite. And some fun games like So Blonde, or Ceville. Right now I'm enjoying "Zenses: Rainforest", and am looking for a Mahjong where you don't have to rescue anyone. Trying to get into the 2 Ace Attorney ones I just bought, have begun Phoenix Wright, and have Apollo Justice too. They seemed to have been highly touted, but I find them to be a wee bit on the corny, overdramatic side so far. Appear to be Japanese, and much of their media would seem to be that way.
