fildil,
I am a Dell old customer also, I bought a XPS 9000 last December. My advise would be to buy the best processor you can afford. Everything else is easy to upgrade, one can also upgrade the processor but is not as convenient or cheap as adding memory, adding a hard disk or even changing the graphic card. I have 8 GB RAM and I think this was standard, it is enough but I find myself using around 50 % almost all the time. Then if the standard is not at least 6 GB I would consider upgrade to 8 GB.
I am very happy up to now (fingers crossed) with it.
