I have played several BFG games with no problems but I just downloaded two trial versions and my computer wouldn't display them. I could hear background music but my screen was black. I had to ctrl/alt/del to get out of them. Right before I played them my screen said that it was entering "saver mode". I have never had that happenned with other BFG games. One of the games was Rhianna: Curse of the Four Branches and the other one was the new Carol Reed game.

I sent them an email about the first problem but not when it happened a second time. Has this happened to anyone else and if so, how did you correct the problem? I am playing on a Dell computer and XP.

Thanks.

I think "saver mode" would be the same as "power saver mode" or "standby."

It might be an aspect ratio problem -- from your monitor not wanting to display a non-widescreen resolution.

Have you been able to play the older Carol Reed games?

What is the model number of your monitor?

Jenny100.

I have a 24 inch Dell widescreen LCD monitor. It is model #S2409 Flat Panel.

I have never played any of the other Carol Reed games but so many people seem to like them so I thought that I would try one. It seems strange to me that all of a sudden, two games (in one night), from BFG won't display. I have never had this happen with any of their other games. I haven't heard from them yet so don't know what is going on with the help email that I sent them.

Thanks.

It’s possible that the game is trying to switch to a mode that your monitor doesn't support. Installing the drivers for you monitor may help - do you have a driver disk?

My monitor came with 2 cables and my friend installed the vga cable that was recommended. I don't want to try and figure out how to install a different cable since almost every other game has played really well.

inlandAZ-I am not sure. What is a driver disk?

Is this a common occurence that games won't recognize the monitor? I have never had that happen.

Thanks for your help.

Nearly all LCD monitors come with drivers - If you post the exact model number we can look it up for you.

In this case, it's a CD or floppy disk that came with the monitor and which contains the monitor drivers. If you don't have one, you'll have to look for drivers on the monitor manufacturer's website.

It's not that uncommon for games designed to only work in a fixed fullscreen resolution not to work with a widescreen monitor if you're using basic "Plug 'n Play" drivers.
