Tale of woe – and help needed.

I guess I am about 2/3rds through the game – with quite a bit of help from some walkthroughs. I just got through the greenhouse section and the next thing was to make sunflower oil.

I was unable to do it – or anything else and so looked up the walkthroughs.
Of course I couldn’t do it because I didn’t have any oilcan. I remembered that I gave it to the old man in a wheelchair somewhere way down below and presumably did not know that I had to take it back.

So I had to retrace my steps to the old man to retrieve the oilcan.. Not so easy – I could not leave by any door or normal exit.
I thought that I had run into a game stopper dead end. However after a while fortunately, I discovered that I could slide down a pipe to much lower levels. After meandering around quite a bit I managed to arrive at the old man and retrieved the oil can.

Eureka I thought now I can continue. But no! I had to work my way back to the location immediately after the greenhouse. This was easier said than done. I had to wander around and even repeat puzzles that I had solved previously and thought I had finished with – and didn’t even remember completely.

Now I MUST be all right I said to myself. But again no! I have the sunflower seeds and the oilcan. I put the oilcan in the right place under the drain and the sunflower seeds into the press-machine.
But now I cannot pull the lever to operate the press.

Can anybody please help and maybe explain this.

Hi harhan,

It's possible to climb back up the pipe from where you climbed down it, rather than replaying a huge chunk of the game. When you're standing on the steps on the lower levels, the pipe is hard to see but move your cursor in that area and you'll get an up arrow.

You've tried pulling the lever - have you also tried pushing it? Both manoeuvres are needed to pump out the oil. luck

Very many thanks Rushes.

Your hint, although not EXACTLY the case, gave me the push to solve my stuckness.
My problem was that I could not operate the lever at all – neither push nor pull it. The Robot is standing VERY close to the press. Every time I got the up-down arrow it was on the robot. I had no idea whatsoever that you could EVER get that up-down arrow on an OBJECT! All that happened was that the robot got taller and shorter..
I completely missed the actual up-down arrow on the lever handle. What you have to do is to get that up down arrow onto the lever handle and DRAG it up and down 2 or 3 times to actually pump out the oil.
As far as I’ve got in the game this is the only case where you have to use the up-down arrow on an object and not on the robot itself (IMHO this is rather ‘unfair’).

N.B. One of the several shortcomings of the game is that you can hardly see the inventory items – They are very small, dark and on a black background. There is no way of magnifying or clicking a close-up or even reading an identifying label.
Even when I eventually succeeded in obtaining the sunflower seed oil there was no way of knowing if the oil can was empty, full, full of black oil, or full of sunflower oil.

Glad that helped you. smile Thanks for the clarification on the process of moving the handle - that's useful info for anyone else having a problem at that spot.

Enjoy the rest of the game!

Here we go again. frown

I've somehow got through those arcade and platform games, got coins and batteries.
Stumped again - so again look at a walkthrough. eek
Quote:
Give the sunflower oil to the old man. He drops his bandage, oils his knees, and gives you a pass to the Arcade. Pick up the bandage. Go upstairs and enter the Arcade
OK – I gave the sunflower seed oil to the old man but due to the poor and small visuals and lack of speech or subtitles or whatever (the bubble-hints are not sufficient IMO) I noticed NO bandage. So I picked up nothing – and hence of course I have no bandage in my inventory. I then finished the Arcade episodes.

So once again I return to the old man (I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO ALTERNATIVE – due to the ridiculous and shocking 6 save slots only) to retrieve the apparently essential bandage; but I can’t find it.

Please tell me where it is ? I fear that without it I can’t continue and finish the game – or have I once again overlooked something?

LATER -

Fiddled around again and FOUND the bandage - Seems you had to be in EXACTLY the 'correct' position when the old man backs his wheelchair - or you don't get it

Edit Reason: Overcame my stuckness by myself
