I am really enjoying this game although it is a little small on my DS Lite for me to see. Can't wait for my XL!!! Anyway, I am stuck in Paris in the skiff area. I am supposed to pick up a shell casing but I can't find it. I finally looked at a walkthrough and it is supposed to be near the gate that has fallen over. Everytime I try to click around the gate for it, Nico says something like "I don't want to put the gate up and risk getting stuck in here" or something like that.

The second hint I used said something about it being time to push the boat out. I thought that the shell might be under it but I can't do anything with the boat. I only have one hint left in this section so I need to save it. What am I doing wrong?

Gatsby, are you in the Catacombs? I found a WT Here but it doesn't use the words 'skiff' or 'casing' and I only found one mention of a boat? wave

There's a walkthrough here for the DS "Director's Cut" version.
http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/955010/56227

It says operate the skiff and it falls over and reveals the shells.

Thanks for the responses. Jenny100, I have a walkthrough but it is a little bit different then the one you linked me to. The one you listed seems to be a better one.

The in-game hint system also said to move the boat but I can't seem to do that. I have touched the screen all over the boat and around it but nothing happens. Nothing appears that shows me that I can interact with it. Does anyone know how to move the boat?

Thanks for your help.

Does the boat have an oar or engine that you can click on?

Well, after trying everything, I finally got the shell casing. What I thought was a boat apparently wasn't, so I have been focusing on the wrong thing. I tried the other thing that was hanging up and it fell down and over like the walkthrough said it would, so apparently THAT was the skiff. I never actually saw the shell but I kept moving the stylus around and eventually was able to pick it up.

This is a good DS game, just like a regular PC adventure game, but for me, it is hard to see things.

Thanks everyone for the help. I know that I will be stuck again so be prepared to hear from me again. I may take a break from it if Art of Murder is in my mailbox when I get home. Can't wait to start that! smile

I was stuck at the casing bit as well it was confusing and then to get the other doors up was tricky. Got to the irish pub before I was next stuck. Haven't got a clue what to do at the minute have left it hanging for the moment.

ritchiesbabe,

I hated to post it but I am also having trouble with putting the casing in the cross. I flattened it but it won't stay in the cross so that the dooe is propped open. How did you finally manage to do it?

The flattened casing needs to now be used to lever up the door which has the stuck mechanism. Another object can be used to prop the cross up. This puzzle involves a lot of swapping between objects. Good luck, hope this helps.
