A friend is having issues with Microsoft Flight Sim 10. He uninstalled it awhile back after having it on the system for a year or so. Used it a lot and was working. Now he wants to reinstall the game but he says it will not install. He tried, run command and auto install that activates when you insert a disk.

Says it just freezes and does not begin to install. Has to ctrl alt del to reboot the system. He says there is no error message just freezes. No scratches on disk says it looks clean. He thought perhaps the disk was a one time only install. I suggested not likely.

Could this be a registry issue where junk got left behind from the previous uninstall? Unless it is a bad disk I am puzzled. Any ideas?

The game has many compressed files on the install disk so it could be Anti Virus software running in the background (it has to decompress and scan each one).

Edit -

You might want to try upgrading the installer if it's not current (assuming this is Vista or XP).

Yes Inland it is XP. Did not think of the anti virus. I sent him a link to cc cleaner told him to try that. Will have him try shutting of the anti virus and then the windows installer update. Most likely won't know anything until Sunday. Thanks.
