Why won't the Hardy Boys patch automatically go into my game?

After you downloaded the patch, you did run it right?

I'm not sure what you're asking - is there a specific error message you see?

I downloaded it many times, ran it, opened it, did everything. It said it was done. But when I go into the game I still have the same problem with that crazy mother hogging the keys (right in the beginning of course). Asked for help two or three times on the Patch page in Adventures web, no answer of course. I even asked for a saved game. I have downloaded patches many times, no problem.

Is this one of those games where you have to start the game over after patching for the patch to take effect?

I have tried that again and again. Nothing new in there. No extra game to load. All nothing. The mother is annoying me so much I might give up!

Several members here have played the game - have you posted in the Hints and Help forum?

It doesn't sound like it a technical issue with the game.

I don't think it is technical. The mother part needs timing, fast reflexes and patience. It took me forever to get through that part.

Assuming I read the notes with the right patch, the patch does not address any gameplay issues such as the one kitty describes.

If I try to get past mommy twice, my game locks up and I have to CAD or shut down. It's okay - thanks everybody for trying. I decided to scrap the game and am playing Still Life 2 for the umpteenth time!

Can't you use someone else's saved game?

I am the only 70-year-old crazy lady that plays these games that I know of. If someone here can or wants to send me one, I would be forever grateful.

Hi kitty,

I'll send you a saved game past this point. Saves for this game are notoriously awkward, however, so I'll also include full instructions for installation. luck and on its way to you in a few minutes.

P.S. We have members in their 80s who play and post here on Boomers, so you're certainly not the only one! laugh

Life is good, thank you. (I do hope the rest of the game is worth all of this trouble - so far they seem pretty silly.) But thank you. I'm thinking I prefer Nancy Drew!
