"Laughter is an instant vacation!" Milton Berle ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A little boy was in a relative's wedding. As he was coming down the aisle he would take two steps, stop, and turn to the crowd (alternating between bride's side and groom's side). While facing the crowd, he would put his hands up like claws and roar loudly. So it went, step, step, ROAR, step, step, ROAR all the way down the aisle. As you can imagine, the crowd was near tears from laughing so hard by the time he reached the front. The little boy, however, was getting more and more distressed from all the laughing, and was near tears by the time he reached the pulpit. When asked what he was doing, the child sniffed and said, "I was just being the Ring Bear!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The bartender asks the guy sitting at the bar, "What'll you have?" The guy answers, "A scotch, please." The bartender hands him the drink, and says "That'll be five dollars," to which the guy replies, "What are you talking about? I don't owe you anything for this." A lawyer, sitting nearby and overhearing the conversation, then says to the bartender, "You know, he's got you there. In the original offer, which constitutes a binding contract upon acceptance, there was no stipulation of remuneration." The bartender was not impressed, but says to the guy, "Okay, you beat me for a drink. But don't ever let me catch you in here again." The next day, same guy walks into the bar. Bartender says, "What the heck are you doing in here? I can't believe you've got the audacity to come back!" The guy says, "What are you talking about? I've never been in this place in my life!" The bartender replies, "I'm very sorry, but this is uncanny. You must have a double." To which the guy replies, "Thank you. Make it a scotch." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Two Newfies landed themselves a job at a saw mill. Just before morning the one yelled, "Mick! I lost me finger!" "Have you now?" says Mick. "And how did you do it?" "I just touched this big spinning thing here... No! There goes another one!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Two men went bear hunting. While one stayed in the cabin, the other went out looking for a bear. He soon found a huge bear, shot at it but only wounded it. The enraged bear charged toward him, he dropped his rifle and started running for the cabin as fast as he could. He ran pretty fast but the bear was just a little faster and gained on him with every step. Just as he reached the open cabin door, he tripped and fell flat. Too close behind to stop, the bear tripped over him and went rolling into the cabin. The man jumped up, closed the cabin door and yelled to his friend inside, "You skin this one while I go and get another one!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A lawyer walks into his client's death row cell and says, "I've got good news, and bad news for you." The prisoner says, "Okay, what's the bad news ?" "The bad news is that the Governor won't issue a stay of your execution!" "Oh that's terrible. What possibly could be the good news?" "The good news is that I got Your Voltage Reduced!" Isn't that revolting? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sidney was a 14-year-old boy with an interest in the sciences. One summer day he started his own investigations. With his 12-year-old sister Sophie in tow, he caught a large bull frog in a local pond. Sidney started his experiment with the amphibian, and told Sophie her job was to write down the results of the experiment. Sidney drew a line in the sand, placed the frog on the line, and prodded the frog with a small twig from the rear and shouted, "Jump, frog!" The frog jumped, and Sidney measured the distance. "12 feet...write that down, Sophie," he said. Next, he brought the frog back to the starting point and removed the frog's right front leg. Again he prodded the frog and shouted, "Jump, frog!" The frog jumped 10 feet, and on instruction, Sophie wrote it down. Again the frog was brought back, the left front leg was removed, and again "Jump, frog!" Sidney reported, "Six feet...write it down." The next time, Sidney removed the large right back leg. "Jump, frog!" Then, he shouted "Jump, frog!" and prodded the frog. "The frog jumped 8 inches...write it down, Sophie." Finally, Sidney removed the frog's remaining back left leg, put it down and prodded the frog with the twig shouting, "Jump, frog! Jump, frog! JUMP FROG!! JUMP JUMP FROG!!!" The frog didn't jump. Sophie looked at Sidney, and said, "So what should I write down?" Sidney thought a moment, then told Sophie to write, "When you remove all the legs from a frog, it turns deaf." I know I'm gonna hear from ASPCF on that one. (American Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Frogs) It was a joke. The frog doesn't really exist. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you are from the northern states and planning on visiting or moving to the south, there are a few things you should know that will help you adapt to the difference in life styles: 1. If you run your car into a ditch, don't panic. Four men in a four-wheel-drive pickup truck with a 12-pack of beer and a towchain will be along shortly. Don't try to help them, just stay out of their way. This is what they live for. 2. Don't be surprised to find movie rentals and bait in the same store. Do not buy food at this store. 3. Remember: "Y'all" is singular, "All y'all" is plural, and "All y'alls'" is plural possessive. 4. Get used to hearing "You ain't from around here, are ya?" 5. You may hear a Southerner say "Oughta!" to a dog or child. This is short for "Y'all oughta not do that!" and is the equivalent of saying "No!" 6. Don't be worried about not understanding what people are saying they can't understand you, either. 7. The first Southern expression to creep into a transplanted Northerner's vocabulary is the adjective "big ol'," as in "big ol' truck " or "big ol' boy." Most Northerners begin their new Southern-influenced dialect this way. All of them are in denial about it. 8. The proper pronunciation you learned in school is no longer proper. 9. Be advised that "He needed killin'" is a valid defense here. 10. If you hear a Southerner exclaim "Hey, y'all, watch this," stay out of the way. These are likely to be the last words he'll ever say. 11. If there is the prediction of the slightest chance of even the smallest accumulation of snow, your presence is required at the local grocery store. It doesn't matter whether you need anything or not. You just have to go there. 12. When you come upon a person driving 15 mph down the middle of the road, remember that most folks here learn to drive on a John Deere, and that this is the proper speed and position for that vehicle. I can attest to that last one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Good morning everyboomie. Who wants coffee? Get me some while you're up ok? Make it a double. I have much to do today, and promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep. All y'all have a happy day, ya hear? joe

Thanks for the openers, Joe. Hope you have a fantastic day!! It is late Sunday night for me. My fiance and I didn't do much of anything today, since it was pouring rain outside. We just stayed in, played The Lost Crown and ordered a pizza. Poor pizza delivery person. Well, tomorrow we must go grocery shopping irregardless of the weather. Luckily, we should be able to go fairly early, since we're both off. As for now, I am off to sleep. Have a great day, everyone!

Good soggy Monday Morning Anybody have a rowboat? It's crazy wet out there! Laundry's done but vacuuming and dusting are the order of the day. Which one should I do first? If I dust first then vacuum, all the dust from the vacuum will get on the furniture that I dusted. If I vacuum then dust, I'll get "mysterious footprints" on the rug... Decisions, decisions. Guess I'll just have a cuppa coffee whilst I ponder. A REALLY big cuppa Everyone have a great day. Don't work too hard *blsbet44

Good Morning Boomers Everywhere,
Morning Joe, Venus, Darlene, Karen, Cailyn, Gerry, Connie, Blsbet, Soot, Midge and all who enter.
Wooshing out this morning. Dropping my car off in the Garage and getting a rental till it's fixed. Weather is terrible here. So much flooding. Grabbing a cup of coffee to go. Be back later on.

Hello Joe, Darlene, Karen, Gerry, Cailyn, Gail, Midge, Soot, blsbet, Connie, Venus, Ana and all who come in later! Hope you're all well and wishing you all a great day! My cousin from Liverpool, the one who stays with us regularly, arrived on Friday for the weekend mainly to visit with his Mum who lives not far from us here. Sad news...she was taken to hospital on Saturday when she developed breathing problems and she died this morning. So sudden and unexpected but very peaceful. Please could I ask for prayers for her family? As you can imagine they are all devastated. Thanks for always being here guys! Mary

Magnificent Monday Ya'll My body thinks it's up but my brain is pretty sure it is not. My coffee is just not doing it's job today. I have an idea that I might end up back in the bed for the rest of the day, or at least until the brain and the body can agree to get up. Joe, I love the jokes, especially #9. Works for me! Venus, did ya'll (plural) finish the game? Darlene, glad your visit with your mom went well. When is she coming over to stay at your place? DocBoomBoom, how are you feeling? Cailyn, how's life? Gerry, any fun plans today? Connie, will you replace the fish ya'll lost to the cold? I have lots of bushes that need cutting back, but I'm waiting to see if the cold is really gone. Blsbet, set the vacuum cleaner in the middle of the floor so folks will think you vacuumed, artfull arrange the dust cloth on top of the tv, and then sit down and play Midgy, I'm thinking I'll head back to bed too. Gail, happy wooshing! Stay dry! Ana, hope the auditors are amazed at how well everything is kept. Big hugs! Mary, big hugs to you and your cousin. Prayers for peace and comfort. Morning Mag

Hiya everyone. Another beautiful day, after a very yucky day yesterday. We got our taxes out to our guy this morning. Got students this afternoon. Will see how Maureen is doing after her grand mal seizure last week. It is spring break for the college, so no orchestra rehearsal tonight. I think I will work on The Hobbit again today. Drac sent me a saved game so maybe I can move on. Karen, I am reading Hide by Lisa Gardner. It is good. Bill and I are also playing Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island. What a fun game. Hope everyone has a great day. Bets

Joe, I'll go now. Bets, have a great day L4L, if I had to wait for both the brain and the body to coordinate I'd never get anything done. Hope your conflict settles. Nan, do an extra walk for me, unless the dogs can look can look really pitiful to me, I don't feel like going today. Darlene, safe skooshing.

Glad you had such a wonderful time with your family, Darlene!! Karen, unfortunately, it may be quite a while. We had our wedding all planned out, but with the bad economy and things being tight, we haven't really been able to do it yet. At least I still have my beautiful dress for when the time comes. I hope you are having a fantastic day!!! Do you have anything exciting planned? Have a great day, Cailyn! Hope the rain slowed down for you, and you were able to take a nice walk, Gerry! Have a wonderful day, Connie! I would dust first then, blsbet. Enjoy your coffee and pondering! Hope your physical therapy goes well, soot!! Have a good day at work! The pizza was delicious, thanks, Midge. We still have plenty left. Sounds like you have a good plan for a rainy day! Are you going to game at all? Sorry your weather is so bad, Gail. Hope everything goes well with your car!! Sounds like fun times, Ana. Hope the auditors visit goes by quickly!! Mary, I'm so sorry to hear this!! All my condolences to you, your cousin, and your family. Enjoy your beautiful day out in the yard, Joe! Thanks for the new emoticons, MaG! Thanks, Nan, I think it's working. It's only mostly cloudy as opposed to pouring down rain now. Hope you have a beautiful day again so you can go out and enjoy it! L4L, no we're still working on it. I think it's going to take us quite some time to finish this one, as it seems to be about the same length as The Longest Journey. Sorry you are feeling so groggy today. I've also been feeling that way for the past couple of days since the time change. Hope you are feeling more lively soon and/or are able to get some rest! Have fun with The Hobbit, and enjoy your book, Bets! I agree, Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island is such a fun game! Well, we've had quite a dilemma here today. Our water has been off all day, since it's being worked on. Once again, we were given no notice that this was going to take place. Well, I'm not going to go anywhere without taking a shower, so my fiance volunteered to go shopping by himself. It all works out, as I've gone without him plenty of times, too. Anyway, I was in quite a bad mood, but when I logged on to Gameboomers and realized I won Still Life 2, my day got a lot better. My fiance is especially happy, as he's really wanted to play it for quite some time. So we have yet another game to play together! Fun times! Okay, off to see what else is going on. See everyone soon!

I think I'm here. Can anyone see me? It's been a whirlwind day. Can't get used to the new time setting, going out late to everything, clocks are driving me nuts. Oh well. Went to CostlyCo AGAIN. They had coupons for Gladware disposable dishes, which I use a ton of. I hate washing dishes and love the disposables especially when it' something very messy and greasy, so I just can toss them. Anyway, bought a few boxes last week, THEN friend gave me a coupon. Bought the limit (5 boxes). That made 8 I had. THEN today I went back and asked for a coupon book (they have spares under the counter) and I bought 5 more. Arrraaaghhh! I think I'm working on being a hoarder. Ha. But it figures out to 25 cents a dish which is mega cheaper than any other deal anywhere and I am so giddy. Now all I have to do is find somewhere to store all of the boxes.

Sorta, I definitely know how you feel regarding the time change. I much prefer gaining an hour to losing one. Glad you were able to get so many boxes at a time. Hope you are able to find a place to put them all. Sorry you hurt your thumb, niteowl. What happened? Glad you enjoyed your game. Hope your car is doing well. Well, we still have no working water here. I don't know what's going on or what's taking so long. Pretty soon we're going to have to start using our cats' litter box and licking ourselves clean. Okay, off to play a game to distract myself.

Mary, I'm sending hugs and prayers to your cousin and the family. Hubby and I went to animal control this afternoon. We came home with a 2 year old female kitty. She is a black and white short hair, and gets along good with the Sunshine and the dogs. She likes attention and to sit in your lap. I will try to get some pics up in a few days. We will replace the fish as soon as the water gets a little warmer. Sons are digging dead plants out of the yard. Shopping for new ones will be in order shortly. Have a Wonderful evening everyone. Lasagna and garlic bread in the NC.

Space Quest, yes I chose Still Life 2. My fiance's really been wanting to play it, so I entered the contest specifically with him in mind. I was so thrilled when I won it!! It will be something else for us to play together. I hope you get some warmer weather very soon! Any gaming plans tonight? Congratulations on your new kitty, Connie!! That's great that she's getting integrated so quickly. I can't wait to see the pictures! Glad your physical therapy went well today, soot! Hope things continue to improve as you go along and that you are back to normal in no time!! Well, our water is finally working again. Good thing, too, as I was afraid I would have to go to my friend's house tomorrow to take a shower. And start using my cats' litter box on top of that. All right, off to take a shower. See everyone later.

Howdy everybody. I had a busy day around the house. I worked on the retainer wall in the front yard, then mowed the yard, and ate the weeds. I had some soup for dinner and now I'm trying to hold my eyes open. For some reason it seems like it's an hour later than it is. I hope you all had a great day. :clown: joe

Lasagna and garlic bread in the NC. :wav Connie, did I miss something? "replace the fish as soon as the water gets a little warmer" "Sons are digging dead plants out of the yard." You are in Florida, right? Did yall really have that bad of a winter? We have a 125 gallon pond with goldfish, but have never lost them to the cold here. But then, we haven't had any 'exploding trees' during an ice storm in a few years either. In Jan. '01 we lost 2/3 full grown trees that way, and one of them was the best tasting/most producing japanese plums we had ever eaten

Good evening boomies. What a day! So glad it's winding down and I'm declaring the rest of it as "me time". Took the pups out for their run after work and ran into a poor disoriented opposum. He didn't seem to mind me but I had to shoo him away before the dogs got him. Venus, glad you got water for at least a shower. What a pain. JOe, are you home again tomorrow? Are we all having a good evening?

I had to lay down and look for that lost hour of sleep.......again. I think I found a couple of lost hours. Hi Kat , how you doin? Hey Venus. What's up with the water outage? Glad you got your shower in there. Ana that possum reminds me of a momma armadillo and her 4 babies that I ran across driving down a street one day. It was almost dark, and we stopped and got out and walked right up to them, and they just sniffed around our shoes, so I shooed them off the road. Yes I'm home, home, home, again tomorrow. joe

That's great you get a two day weekend for a change. YOu look cute in the pink pom poms Joe. I can honestly say I have never run across an armadillo. That poor opossum did not belong in a dog park. If you found one of my hours, can you send it here please? Ana

Well, it's still raining here. Luckily there's no flooding where we are but New England is having a big problem with flooding. I've been watching the news and looking at all the flooding in New England. Glad I'm not in that area. Joe enjoy your day off tomorrow. Do something fun. I've been playing Nancy Drew Curse of the Blackmoor Manor. Fun game. Ana you must have had your trusty camera in hand when you saw that opossum. Soot I hope the treatments are helping your back. Maybe tomorrow you'll feel just a little bit better. Time for me to say good night. Sleep well everyone. See you tomorrow. Midgie

Glad you are gaming again Midgie. I always have my camera with me everywhere. I love to take pictures. The only time I forget it is if I charged the battery up. Glad you aren't flooding there. How is mom? I am playing Vooju Island. It's funny.

Home, fed, NCIS'd.... Howdy, all! This was Mum's first full day here. Hubby and I left early this morning for work, daughter said 'G-Ma' slept 'til about 9:30am, then they had breakfast together before daughter left for class/work/sorority. Then Mum snoozed in the afternoon with Patches beside her, and then there was dinner with me and Hubby. Now she has her regiment of TV shows she enjoys... We'll have her until just after Easter. We're giving her an 85th birthday party on April 3, and most of her children and grandchildren will be here... Alrighty, off to see if she needs anything. Be back...

I couldn't find my pink moo moo Ana, so I had to wear the short skirt. Yeah the dogs would have torn that poor possum to pieces. Hi Darlene. Welcome home! :clown: joe

Evening; a busy day with dishes, laundry, yard work, then the little neighbor stopped by so went for a very-very short-short bike ride after I finally pumped the tires up on my bike. But now think the back tire has a slow leak.
Hope it's a good eve for everyone and since it's time for head to meet pillow, will wish all a pleasant and restful night.
