Hi smile

Playing a little as a trial (looks good) so as to get used to the navigation style but I have no idea of "Dark Eye" or "Dungeon & Dragon" type rules blush

Do I have to learn them or is there any way I can ask the game to level up and/or allocate points earned on an "auto" basis on my behalf ??

I've already earned both some adventure points and some experience points and I have seen one of the stats type pages that's full of confusing little arrows - where I presume I have to allocate them ??
But I have to admit to not understanding all those arrow procedures woozy

Also ....
Can I set the difficulty level of the game anywhere ??
[I looked for that facility as soon as I had finished the installation but never saw one.]
BECAUSE, at the moment, although I have tried twice, I can't win against those two soldiers who offer me a sword if I can beat them. Even though I have the lady warrior alongside me eek
[Or should I not be able to this early in the game ??]

Help always appreciated mucho thanks

Cheers.

Mad yes

Mad, I had a lot of fun with this game. There is only one difficulty, but I found the game to be fairly easy except for a few spots. I suggest you gain some experience in the first area before you take on the two soldiers. I waited and won the sword easily.

I can't remember how the leveling worked. I put my points into combat early on and left the thieving to my companion. Maybe the green arrows designate which abilities can be raised.

Hi Pokey smile

Thanks for your response and pleased to hear you liked the game happydance

What I find rather confusing with the "arrows" is that some of them point up/down and some point R/L think

I've been reading the manual, of course, but I don't always understand manuals either lol

Cheers.

Hi Mad.

I've only played the (german) demo, but like Baldur's Gate, you can pause the game, using the spacebar. For serious battles, I always backtrack,

You level up your characters by clicking on the green arrows beside the stats/abilities/adventure points. I didn't quite understand the leveling either, but I think the reason for the up/down arrows is that you can decrease some stats; if you do so this will free some stat points you can use elsewhere.

Here's a little hint:

Click to reveal..
If you look for it, there's a package somewhere on the road. And you can a thief in your party if you talk to the gypsy queen and her aide.
.

And I liked the game, too - at least based on the demo that I played...

You are probably aware of the Gamepressure guide. If not:

http://guides.gamepressure.com/drakensangthedarkeye/

It has some nice maps.

I am waiting for the release of the sequel in the US.

Hi smile

I'm getting to really like this game and am progressing quite well at the moment thumbsup

But, although I now understand the "Experience" points system, I also accumulate "Adventure" points and yet can't seem to allocate those anywhere woozy

Can anyone help me out, here, please think

Cheers.

Adventure points aren't allocated. They determine your level.

Ahhhh, Pokey. Thank you !!
I had actually read that but didn't properly realise the significance blush

Well, I've done all the quests in the first chapter now except the "shrine" chest.

And although along the way I've kept putting points into lockpicking (Dranor) I still can't unlock chests eek

I've roamed everywhere, figghting and killing, trying to gain experience points to augment this talent and I'm not sure there's anything left to attack now !! lol

But I know the locations of several chests - apart from the quest one - and would dearly love to get some of them open.

So, do you have any advice to offer as to how I might increase lockpicking, please ??

[I hope that you don't object to seemingly becoming my personal mentor :haha:]

Thanks mucho.

Glad to help. Are you using hairpins? There is a penalty for not using a tool. Drag it to the quickbar and use from there. Sometimes it takes several tries so you might want to save first.

I think the loot in chests in this game is about the worst I ever saw. I didn't mind leaving a chest unlocked.

Yes, I've been using hairpins - but - I just had an idea ....

I could maybe temporarily "re-allocate" already existing points whilst I open some chests and then allocate them back again crazy

I'll go see if that will work laugh

EDIT : No, it didn't so I think I'll just leave out that side quest and carry on snicker

Hi smile

I'm upto the start of the Blood Mountains quests now and feel I'm doing really well so far happydance

Does anyone know, though, if I'm likely to have to face one of those unavoidable game stopping events that could end it all for me ??

[I saw that Pokey mentioned earlier in the thread "one difficulty" think]

Cheers.
