Am more than half way thru & run into a snag.
As per MaG's w/t, I am in the hotel & in Present day room 1E.
I answered all the questions (or rather the answers with the questions)& get her to say "If only my life has been different." She then says "[blip] you all to hell, If he's gone I have no reason to live."
I looked over all the things that gave her responses like the newspaper, book, bed, etc. & clicked on them , but still get her above response.
I am then suppose to get from Gloria the artifact ring #2 & her lock key. I did not, they are not in inventory, so, I guess I did something wrong & don't know what.
I am totally confused & don't know what to do to get those 2 things from her.
Please help!

Hi El,

You may have missed clicking on something. Go back over the 1947 room and examine/click on everything again that MaG's walkthrough advises you to -- then return to present day and replay the sequence with Gloria in the car. The correct responses to her dialogue are also in the walkthrough. If you answer all correctly, Gloria won't crash the car and will instead give you the items. If you crash -- you'll need to play through the car section again.

Make sure she answers in the affirmative - "Must not forget," "could have been different," etc. - for all five steps of the puzzle. Otherwise, there's your snag, and that'll tell you for sure which object(s) you need to re-examine (they're given in order on my list in the walkthrough, so if it's, say, the third question you're missing, go back and check the book again).

The book on the nightstand by the bed, in the 1947 room; i.e., one of the five hotspots you need to click. It was just an example.

EDIT - I meant it would tell you indirecty; you can figure out which by the order...
Step by step:
1) Go to the 1947 room.
2) Click on the first hotspot on my list (the bed).
3) Note what Gloria says.
4) This gives you the correct response for the car puzzle. So, if she said, "I'll never sleep again" when you clicked the bed, you'd say "Why do you not wish to sleep again?" during the puzzle.

Make sure you've gotten all five answers from all five objects (the bed, tower of London picture, the nightstand book, the newspaper on the dresser, and the lover's picture in the box) before you start the puzzle!

EDIT 2 - And you should hear her say that, or the "could've been different" line, after each step of the puzzle.

Yes, dummy me kept on repeating the same mistake (answer on newspaper), anyway I got thru it & alas, again stuck & perplexed!
I then progressed to the second floor with the padlocks on the door & cannot seem to get those 3 locks open. I keep rereading Mag's w/t & get confused. The only positive clicking sound I get is at 10 o'clock on all three locks, cannot seem to get any other positive sounds no matter how many times I move those picks around.
Can you please help me to better understand what to to, I sure would be grateful........

The lock will reset itself if you click in the wrong area. Your 10 o'clock is correct (NW) as the first move, you then need to click in SE direction, and so on, per the walkthrough. Imagine the lock as a directional compass with the compass lines extending out; that might help with working out where to click. Good luck!

You have me a bit confused.
Yes, I did the l0 o'clock (NE) & then you say "click in SE direction"
The w/t says do the left (10 o'clock) NW - then right (E) top?? etc., not your SE direction. Hope I am not confusing you.
Also, is the same directions in the w/t the same for all 3 locks?
No matter how much I tried, I only heard that one click at 10 o'clock & never hear it on any other direction I went to.
Please be patient with me on this & hope your reply will help me get thru this puzzle!

How dumb of me, the operative word was (in w/t) 'rim', as it says "click on active spot on 'rim' of the lock. I was clicking on the outside of the circle of the lock.
Did so & only had to do one lock & presto, the gate opened!

Forgot to add, went to seance room, played Amy's game & am suppose to get "artifact ring #3" - it showed on the screen & I clicked on it (3 dark brown rings with symbols on them), but it never went into inventory, same with Gloria, she game me a lock pick & don't recall seeing the brown ring on the screen (artifact #2), I recall clicking on inventory, but only saw the aritact ring #1 showing in inventory about the time I collected all those colored eyeballs.
Can you tell me why I don't have them & how to get them into inventory? I'd really appreciate it!

Hi El -- it's been awhile since I played this one. Is it possible the rings are automatically combining with one another when they go into inventory?

Also, I have another question (sorry about that).
I proceeded to room 2D, then to 2A, then to reception desk, got room 2E key, read the telegram, & proceeded to go to 2E.
I am suppose to see a "glowing symbol on door", but I do not. When I get upstairs, the screen is black except for the wrench cursor so I click on key 2E & scan around the black screen to see if there is a lock or something that I cannot see on the black screen, but to no avail.
Can you please tell me why I don't see the "glowing symbol" on the door?" I sure would appreciate it & as always, thank you in advance.

Becky is right, the artifact rings automatically combine with each other each time one is added. If you right click on the one that you see in inventory, you will see the whole lot together.

I'm not sure why the screen is black when you climb the stairs - are you trying to climb to the third floor in error? You won't be able to access the third floor yet.
