Game has been hinky all along, with overlapping dialog, music and sound levels going up and down on their own, and unreliable inventory control. But I soldiered on because this quirky game is fun.

Now, it is stuck. I'm in the arena in the town, trying to find some music. The streetwalker and the band leader are insulting each other. I can't make anything happen, and my character won't leave the scene.

I tried to go back to previous saved games, but they now crash within 30 seconds of loading. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Windows XP on a Intel P3.0 Dual Core (3.0 GHz), ASUS P5 VDC-MX motherboard, Western Digital 120 gig HD, 2 gig RAM, Soundblaster 5.1, and we just upgraded our video card (I don't remember the name).

No, I did not find a patch when I went looking, before downloading the game. Thanks. I will try it, if it doesn't mean starting the game over again. LOL

Reenie, I played the game on my XP drive and had issues with the cut scenes. The fix I found on the Vampyre Story forums was to update my sound card drivers. After I did that, it played just fine.
