Part 4 of a free adventure game made with Chris Jone's AGS engine has just been released, along with the 3 original episodes that I enjoyed but never thought to see again once they disappeared from the web. The first 3 games played just fine on my last computer but I now have Win 7 64 bit and a wide screen monitor - and they look awful unless I play in a window, which makes the game area way too small for me to see everything clearly.

I believe the problem is that the game was made in 640 x 480 resolution at 8-bit (256 col) since one of my favorite AGS games at the same resolution but 32 bit looks fine. So, the question is (after all that) is there any way to make this 8 bit game look right played full screen on the wide monitor?

I sure hope I don't have to go out and buy a magnifying glass.

Gil.

Maybe if you reduce the desktop resolution on your monitor and play the game windowed it will look larger than a postage stamp. There's not much you can do about increasing the number of colors though.

Tried it, Jenny. Reducing the desktop resolution makes no difference to the..um, spread across the wide screen which just tears the colors apart and pixilates everything. Guess I'm stuck with playing it windowed but thanks for taking a stab at it!

Reducing the resolution is not going to help with the difference in aspect ratio when you play it full screen, but it might make the window appear larger.
