Hi everyone. I'm hanging out on the Darkside again, and wanted to post about this game. I just bought it from Go Gamer for 3.95 (!!!!) and I am having such fun that I would've paid alot more than that. I can't tell you how neat it is to take a break from my adventuring to play an RPG--especially since the only RPG I've really "loved" and been into these past few years is Oblivion. That one is so great I never thought another RPG could measure up so I guess I didn't give them a try, but I'm glad I did because although this game isn't like Oblivion, it IS alot of fun and I'm enjoying the heck out of it. btw--along with talking about my incredible deal I also wanted to ask if there is a strategy guide for this game? I havent' gotten stuck yet (YET) but it would be nice to have one just in case. I did check ebay and Amazon but didn't have any luck so I thought I'd see if someone here might have info. Thanks you guys! Tracy

Good Morning Tracy. Have you checked for a walkthru for the game? Have you ever tried any of the Tomb Raider games? They are lots of fun!

I think I have that one around somewhere and have never played it. I'll have to see if I can rummage it up.

I rummaged through my box of games I've never played, and sure enough, found it! I've loaded it and am starting now. Don't know how much time I'll have to play it along with all the other stuff I want to do, but it should be fun. Keep me posted on how it goes!

I played for a couple hours last night. I'm pleasantly surprised that the graphics are as good as they are for an older game. I was really afraid that they'd be bad. I'm still stuck in the sewers! It's taking me a while to work out the combat system and things like opening up trapped treasure chests. There is a lot to learn in this game! Tracy, what are you playing? I'm an elf mage. Do you know if there's a quick way to switch from casting to using weapons? Sometimes I'm out of spell charges and try to hit with my weapon and it beeps at me as it's still trying to cast a spell. Edited to say that I looked at the site Oldman posted and it has all the info we need. I should have looked at that first! There's a wealth of info, plus a link to the patch site. Thanks Oldman!

Ugh, I cannot get out of the sewers! Tracy how did you manage? I got up to the goblins with their balista's and just can't get past that area. Got through to the side rooms and picked up the sewer key, but can't unlock the door in the area. If you stay too long in the rooms you get attacked by rats or slimes.
I thought since I play Wow all the time I would be good at this, but combat as a mage at a low level is kind of hard when you're out of spells.

Jean, I'm assuming you got past the first set of goblins? I know you have the WT link at Gamebanshee. Have you tried their advice? Chances are that the ballista goblin will be flanked by two archer goblins. So your best bet is to jump over the ballista goblin, kill the archer goblins, and then give the ballista goblin your full attention. Since the goblin has to crank back the bolt before firing, it's easy to tell when he's going to attack, and so you might want to try blocking with your shield to avoid some damage. Of course, the blocking with shield bit won't apply as mages normally don't have shields.

The walkthorugh is king of vague on this stuff. I made it past the first goblins that were up on platforms over the water. The area I keep getting stuck is I am facing 3 goblins across a moat, and I'm assuming this is the ballista part. It looks to me as though there are 3 ballista's, cause they shoot me down pretty fast. There is no way to jump to the ballista goblin as there is a moat there. I tried and fall into the water.
I have a key that says it's a "goblin bridge key", but I don't know where to use it. At this point you can't just explore as the monsters keep spawning.
Edited to say I gave up and created a male fighter, so we'll see how that goes. I found the place after I posted last where I use the goblin bridge key, but my female mage just couldn't fight the goblins.

Hi Looney: I haven't found that yet. Last night I did get past the ballista goblins with my fighter, though, and I'm in the rooms beyond. This guys is a lot tougher than my mage. I'd really like to find that underwater passage though. There are a million goblins in these rooms. I'll check the map and see what I can come up with. I don't have much time to play today. Sigh. Edited to say I checked the walkthrough and I'm past the underground passage point and into the theater. I'll have to look at that map and see what's up there. Thanks Looney!

Yay, I'm so glad....I wonder if the goblins you were fighting were the ones that the walkthrough said not to fight at the stairs as the ballista guys would get you?
Mages are fun, but they are always squishy. Wouldn't it be great to have a game that let you be a Mage and wear Plate!

It would be nice to have a plate wearing mage! I know you can work your way up to better armor in the game as a mage, but that doesn't help much at the beginning. I have one saved spot for my mage and at some point maybe I'll go back and play her again, now that I know where things are. But I sure don't know how she can fight those goblins. Playing a melee fighter is new for me. I usually always play casters, and in World of Warcraft my main is a priest. I have an elemental shaman, a mage, and warlock and druid. But they are all casters. So I have to learn how to fight up close in this game. Right know I kind of, ahem, twirl in circles and lash out, which isn't the best of strategies. I have to learn footwork!

Jean, me too...I always play a caster or a ranged DPS and Soot always plays melee. Once we decided to switch roles and he was gonna cast and I was gonna melee......that didn't last long. I do have baby toons on WoW that are melee-esque....a feral druid and an enhancement shaman and I do like being able to not just die when evil whacks me twice Soot, on the other hand, has a baby priest toon and he is loving casting....now I just gotta get him to stop tanking with her
