I've been bouncing between playing KQ8 and this game and in this one I'm stuck near the end of act 2. I've double checked the hints on UHS-hints and in MaG's walkthrough, and have come up emptyhanded, I honestly don't see what I'm missing. When I travel back to Poirot's office, and try to click on that finger thing, Poirot tells me it can not aid me this time, so I click on him and choose the I'm at my wit's end option and he just tells me that most of the hotel's staff is away from their area and to snoop. I have done that, numerous time for Mrs. Castle, Gladys, the beach attendant and the bartender, coming up absolutely empty every single time.
Does anyone have a save from the opening of act 3, or can point me to what I'm missing?

Thank you so much, oldmariner That'll give me something to play after work tomorrow evening! Question though...where do I copy the saved game files to? My Evil Under The Sun folder doesn't have a sub folder called Saved games (or something to that effect. I tried making one, but when I open the game it doesn't show that game, it only shows the one I had saved while playing (which I titled Act II) I also tried copying them to the EUTS main directory, but it still doesn't appear in the game menu

If you're using XP then the save folder should be at: C:\Program Files\The Adventure Company\Evil Under the Sun\Saved.Games For Windows 7 or Vista you'll need to try a file search. You could also try enabling viewing hidden files & folders if you haven't already. Sometimes folders get hidden that way. Thanks, oldmariner.

Okay...here's the weird thing. I did a search (as my computer has Vista Home Basic as it's OS) and it couldn't even find my saved game (the one I titled Act II)
So I looked in C:\Program Files\The Adventure Company\Evil Under The Sun, and there are no files named Act II, and the only folders are: Elements, Interface, Inventory, Locations, Models, Movies, Sound & Text.
I'm starting to wonder if when I installed the game if maybe it didn't fully install right since a file search doesn't even find the saved game I did in the game.

I took a look back through some older threads, and it seems the save files for this game are difficult to find in Vista -- none of the threads I checked were successful in finding the relevant folder. Did you try showing your hidden files & folders just in case? Here's how, in case you're not sure:
Open your Documents folder. From the top toolbar, select "Tools". Select "Folder Options", then "View". You may then need to scroll down a little until you see "Hidden files and folders". Be sure that the box for "Show hidden files & folders" is checked. Confirm and exit out. Then try searching for the save folder again.

Although I still can't find where the game saves at, I do have amazing news! I figured out what I needed to progress! I was missing the brochure next to the door in the Library/Alchemist shop/Post Office.
Thanks for your help though, Oldmariner and Rushes

Now if I can find what's halting me near the end of act 4... Yesterday I printed off MaG's walkthrough and I'm following it. I got to the part where you get the three gold darts and use the to unlock the hidden secret passage in Smuggler's End's basement. I went into the passage and looked at the footsteps, and took the luminescent coat.
The walkthrough next says to leave the pub, go back to the hotel and down to Rocky Beach and talk to Emily Brewster. Here's my problem, when I do just as the walkthrough directs, I arrive in Rocky Beach and Emily is nowhere to be seen.

Difficult to say what you might have missed doing -- this series is so picky with detail. Be sure to have read all documents picked up along the way, and that you have right-click-examined all items in your inventory. That can sometimes be the problem. I'd also suggest checking back carefully against the walkthrough to see if you can spot anything that hasn't been done yet. Once you've done absolutely everything, that should trigger Emily's appearance.

I double checked everything. I had missed examining some stuff in the inventory and reading some stuff in the journal, but I examined everything, even stuff I knew I already had and read everything, still no Emily.
I headed back to Poirot's office and used the Finger if Suspicion, and the only names available is Col. Weston and Christine Redfern, and it says to talk to them. I cant find Christine anywhere, and Col. Weston just says "Can we talk another time, I have my other duties to attend to."

My sympathies. That game nearly drove me crazy.

The oddness is I never had this problem with And Then There Were None or Murder On The Orient Express

I've just recalled that there is a glitch in this game with the car repair puzzle on the mainland, which stops progress through to the next Act of the game. The car repair needs to be done after everything else possible has been done on the mainland.
How to find out if you've got the glitch: return to the mainland and see if the car is still in the garage. If it is, then you'll need to replay from an earlier save while you were still on the island, before fixing the car.
Keep us posted!
