I'm using a Dell V313 printer and, although not working perfectly (as other threads will show), it was workable.

Now, all of a sudden, it will not print: nothing, no how, no way.

I've been running the Dell Printer support program and I've gotten to the point where it says my "dleacoms.exe" and "dleawbgw.exe" files have been blocked and I have to unblock them in order for the printer to work. This may very well be the problem, but I can't find where these files are/were, and I have no clue how to unblock them.
The other day, I had a slight problem with the computer where first it just froze while I had several windows open and I had to manually (push the "on" button)shut the computer down TWICE (the second time it booted up but all I got was a blank, black screen).

After getting it up and running, I lost all my passwords and had to sign in to all my sites again, but all else seems fine.

I do not know if that could have anything to do with what's going on, but I had a brief, small, similar problem with the printer before this happened.

I am running Win7 and using Norton Anti-virus.

The answer is....chocolate! Who cares what the question is.....

dleacoms.exe and dleawbgw.exe should be in the C:\Windows\System32 folder.

If you've got a Dell computer, you can try running the Dell diagnostics.
Otherwise try running a chkdsk.

I ran the chkdsk, saw it halfway through, had to leave the computer and came back and that screen was gone. Do I assume there was no problem? (Tried to print again--no help.)

Secondly, where do I find Dell diagnostics program (running Win7 home 64-bit)? I used a "support" program pertaining to the printer alone; that's where I got the message about unblocking the files.

To run Dell Diagnostics, try rebooting your computer and pressing F12 while the Dell start screen is showing. From there you can select the Diagnostics and run the Custom test on the Hard Drive.

I'll try that tonight, Jenny. I'll keep you posted.

Edit: Now I'm totally befuddled: having changed no settings whatsoever, nor checked my hard drive, all of a sudden the printer is working again.

What good is a printer that does, and then doesn't, work. Ah Dell, how far you've fallen. frown
