In this day and age of developers and publishers going out of business and entire countries economies hitting rock bottom I am happy that any publisher is still distributing adventure games. The distributor's that are left don't seem to care much about the adventure genre as it is no longer as profitable as it once was. So if a publisher wants to keep postponing a game to release it at a time that they deem will make them the most return then so be it but please keep using your money to bring us these games we love so much. But in this case it is not the publisher that wants to hold back the game. It looks by the following that it is Matt Clark himself that has postponed it to add content for us and to fine tune and bring us a better experience.
A Matt Clark quote after the first delay:
Developer Matt Clark of Shadow Tor Studios said: "It is disappointing that Bracken Tor's release has had to be put back to Q1 next year, but we felt that the extra polish and additional features that we will be able to add to the title will ensure that those people who are eagerly anticipating the release will not be disappointed.”
And this statement on the publishers web page
Haarlem, The Netherlands – 15 April 2011 – Videogames publisher Iceberg Interactive today announced that the release of Bracken Tor: The Time of Tooth and Claw for PC has been postponed to June 10th 2011. The indie developer of the highly-anticipated horror adventure, Shadow Tor Studios from Cornwall, UK, has been adding much content over the past months but needs more time to tweak and fine-tune the game.
So, in fact, these delays are a good thing in the eyes of this adventure game player
