I got mine at Target about a month ago, and there were still copies on the shelf this last week-end. This game was one of the more pleasant surprises I found there this summer.

Mmm, I'll have to go hunting online. I have no Target store near me.

Traveler, glad you are enjoying it more now. Have you gotten any farther? I agree, it's not on my favorites list either, but I still had quite a bit of fun with it. smile

Unfortunately, that enjoyment didn't last, venus. I finished it but I did it with one eye on a walkthrough because I just couldn't maintain any interest in the game. I know a lot of you liked it but, frankly, solutions to the puzzles just got more and more farfetched and ridiculous and the whole air of the game was so at odds with the serious theme I just wanted it to be over.

Let's put it this way. I'm playing Jack Keane now and having a ball. If some of the solutions for the puzzles in this one are outlandish it's all part of the fun in a game that doesn't pretend to be anything but fun. I'm saving the world here, too, but
Click to reveal..
from a nut who wants to unleash man-eating plants on the British Empire
and who can take that seriously? But you know what? I'm much more interested in stopping Dr. T than I ever was in throwing a wrench in the plans of Puritas Cordis!

Gil.

Sorry your enjoyment didn't last, traveler. As I said, I understand where you're coming from. When I first played Secret Files: Tunguska, I expected a different game. I expected something to blow me away along the lines of TLJ and Syberia. When that didn't happen, when I heard Nina's speaking voice, the odd translations and noticed what I interpreted as general strangeness in the situations and puzzles, I was very disappointed.

However, when I went back to play the game again, something happened. I stopped expecting the game to be something other than it was, and I enjoyed it quite a bit more. What I had previously interpreted as flaws became endearing quirkiness. Maybe it helped that I played it with my fiance, and we started laughing over the lines and the situations. In that new light, when part 2 came out, I was really excited since I knew what to expect. I actually think they made improvements with the second game, although I missed the length and multiple locations of the first.

Of course, when Lost Horizon came out, I had a certain expectation and mindset for the game and did not expect to be blown away like I was. I think maybe the problem was you started with the best game first and worked your way backward. lol

Anyway, glad you are having fun with Jack Keane. That is certainly a very enjoyable game. thumbsup Hope you continue to have more fun with this one than SF2.

And I agree, SF2 was much better than SF1.

I'm in the minority with this one & on the same "sourpuss ship" as traveler. SF2 started out ok I guess but once I switched to Max on the island it was downhill from there. I don't know if it's just me but I found the inventory combinations completly ridiculous & from that point on the wind was out of my sails:-(

Maybe the last 5 games I played....Dark Fall/Lost Souls...RHEM4...BM2 & BM3 & LHOD4 were all SO GOOD, that i was expecting SF2 to measure up at the same level but for me it just didn't. Now my fingers are crossed that ASYLUM or The Last Crown get released in the fall in time for Halloween!!

I am getting a bit dismayed with this game - I am not a fan of dialog strings. Line after line of unnecessary chatter.

I am not that far into it yet - partly because it's still summer and I tend to be outdoors a lot and partly because the game has not held my interest to the point where I just can't stop playing yet.

But, like I mentioned before, for a game that was $50.00 and you can now download for $9.99, I have to stick it out - maybe it will pick up, maybe not, but the price was sure right! ( Hi SQF and Starcom yay )

Ah, I actually love long dialogues. lol Oh, well, hope it picks up for you, sureshot.

SCOTTY, I don't think you can expect SF2 to be among the best of the best, though for some people, it may be. For me, I just enjoy the Secret Files games for what they are and don't expect more out of them. You may try Lost Horizon, if you haven't already. I think it is a much stronger game. smile

Yes Venus I guess you're right. I threw in the towel rather quick but I didn't uninstall it & I'm sure I'll attempt it again in the future. I dug out my Dark Fall/The Journal game & figured I'd replay it since I recently finished Dark Fall/Lost Souls. WOW...I'm glad I did. It's been all but 10 years since I've played it & I completly forgot most of my first experience in the Dowerton Station & the goings on there. I've already jumped out of my seat a few times & I don't remember any of the puzzel solutions either. It's like playing it for the first time!! ALSO...Another cool thing is seeing the station again in it's pre Lost Souls state.

So I guess SF@ will have to wait till I'm in a more light hearted frame of mind but for now the voices in the station are calling me.

Thank you Venus!

I probably will finish this game. I don't even turn off a very bad movie once I start watching it - gotta see it through. thumbsup
