I am in Nancy's bedroom (playing as Ned) and trying to open the corner cabinet. I don't have a key for it. Also, according to the WT I am supposed to check Ned's picture and the letter taped behind it. I have clicked all over Ned's picture but it won't turn to reveaL a letter behind it and where is is the key to the corner cabinet in Nancy's room?

I better reword that part with Ned or remove it all together. It is posted that it is only on a special released game.

The key is given by Nancy and you have to pick it up at the police station drop off box. This is only after she asks for fingerprinting of the suspects.

I went to the drop box and the key wasn't there. I had to stop playing the game because of my hectic work schedule and am just getting back to it. I don't remember that Nancy asked for fingerprints so I will back up and try to get back to that part.

This switching back and forth between characters is very confusing (for me) when there are lapses in gameplay. I have been trying to remember what I have done with each character and think I have done everything I am supposed to do. Apparantly I have missed something but I have looked at two walkthroughs and retraced my steps but I can't get into the corner cabinet in Nancy's bedroom or figure out how to get Nancy to talk to Ned about the fingerprinting kit.

Be sure that Ned has talked to Deidre about intercepting a note that was for Nancy. And Deidre has given the note to Ned.

Then call Nancy about that note and the fingerprinting actions will happen.

The picture of Ned might not be on your game - it is only a bonus for some games.

I have Deidre's note. But when I (Ned) have called Nancy she doesn't say anything about a fingerprinting kit. Usually she just says "I am turning the case over to you" or something like that

I have a picture of Ned in the upper left corner (when I am playing as him) and there was a picture of him in Nancy's bedroom.

Place Deidre's note on the police dept drop box and see what happens.

Just tried to put the note in the Police dropbox and Ned said "I can't do that right now."

Can you send me that saved game and I will check that part.

Also try to call Nancy, tell her about it (if possible) and then place it in the drop box. See if that works.

Well, guess I will have to send you a game. I have been switching back and forth between Nancy and the other characters for hours. I can't advance because no one will talk to me and I don't have the fingerprinting kit from Nancy's room. Ned has Deidre's note but I can't put it in the polcie drop box. I guess I need the house keys to open the cabinet and get the fingerprinting kit. However, Nancy got her cell, keys etc. from the box and passed them to Ned earlier in the game. He searched the house so the Drew house is now open but no one has the keys.

I tried to go back to see if they were back in the drawer at the police station but I can't find them or Nancy's other items,so I can't open the cabinet to get the fingerprinting kit. I can't explore the antique store (Ned has the trunk key), Scoop or the news van. I have just been going around in circles. What happened to her house keys?

I have never sent a game before so I will need instructions on how to do that or if you have any idea what I might be doing wrong, I will try that first.

Once Nancy's house has been opened by any character - any other character can enter - no need of house keys.

Once that cabinet that has the fingerprinting kit has been opened - it is open to all the other character.

So just go to Nancy's house - enter and take the kit.

I didn't use the house keys on the cabinet. That is why I can't get in it. It is still locked and I no longer have the house keys and can't find them.

Change to Ned who has the house key last. Then get him to open the cabinet. See if that works.

That's the problem. Ned doesn't have the house key (anymore)either. He has the trunk key and Deidre's letter. Bess, George and Nancy don't have the key either. No idea what happened to it.It is lost

Check if you returned it to Nancy - if so, get Nancy to place it in the box.

Did Ned get a fingerprint kit? If so - it should be open now.

Also scroll that inventory frame and see if Ned or Nancy has it.

There are keys that Nancy put on the evidence board. They are in a sealed bag. I don't know if they are the keys I need but I haven't been able to figure out how to move them from there to other people.

Ned does not have a fingerprint kit because he can't get to the locked cabinet in Nancy's room.

Get Nancy to check the deposit box and see if the keys are sitting there to be collected.

I have tried that with Nancy and the other characters but there are no keys in the police drop box. Now THIS is a mystery!

I was playing this a bit earlier - could the keys possibly be in Nancy's evidence locker - there are three drawers? (not the deposit box)

I thought of that earlier when I first couldn't find the keys. I tried to go back and look in the drawers but they wouldn't open and I wasn't able to look in them. I suppose it was because I had already done that. I will go back and try this again in the hope that I just missed something.

Well, I give up. I tried to find the keys again in the jail (as Nancy) but couldn't. No one has them and it has become too frustrating to keep switching between characters without making any progress. Without the keys to the cabinet in Nancy's room (to get the fingerprinting kit), I can't advance. This game hasn't been too much fun, so far. I am bummed.

Would someone be able to send me a save after the fingerprinting kit (in Nancy's bedroom)? I have gone back with all of the characters and still can't get the fingerprinting kit. Please include instructions as to how to install the save. Thank you!

I can send you 2 saved games: one before at number punch puzzle and the one after is after getting Alexei's fingerprint.

Check the walkthrough where they are located.

Thank you! Got two emails from you with the saves.I think they are both the same? I have Windows 7 and am using IE. When downloading the file I don't get the option to save to desktop. I have to choose a folder and then it wants me to open it. Amy way around this?

What are you using as Mail server? Yahoo? If so - there check this: click here.


If it wants a folder - then make a new folder on desktop, open it and download to that folder.

Downloaded the saves you sent and found them in my downloads. I tried both copy & paste and drag and drop. The files are in my Alibi in Ashes folder in Documents but not in my saves in the game. When I try to redo the copy/paste etc. I get the message that the file already exists and am asked if I want to overwrite it.

Scroll to the start of the list and you will see it.

I have done that and they aren't there

The saved games I sent are labeled: number punch puzzle done and Alexe fingerprint.

See if you can open your older saved games. How many do you have on the list?

I have a bunch of saved games in my Alibi in Ashes folder in my Documents. There are the ones I saved and the ones I downloaded from you. They seem to be all there but they aren't in my game when I go to play it.

I really don't know what else to say - if they are there in the saved game folder - they should show up in the "load" frame.

Are you opening-clicking the manila folder at bottom right of the screen?

Hi: I'm playing George in the antique shop. I played the number punch game several times, the puzzle timer timer stops one minute before the best time. However, there isn't any opening of a secret compartment. I've talked to Alexi and he is mad about something.

Can Someone send me a "saved game" or explain where I take the trunk key from?

Hi GoGirl,

After the game is won, you hear a short tune played, then the box lid slides back, and you automatically come out of close-up. Does that happen for you?

Then straightaway you *should* see the open secret compartment and the key. If that isn't happening, you might have missed a number out somewhere? The puzzle allows you to win it after 3 failed tries.

I have a save game but my play doesn't follow the walkthrough, so you'd need to check against the tasklist for what has/hasn't been done so far. Let me know if you want that.

Hi Rushes: I had my volume down while playing the puzzle. Anyway, I got the key. I don't need a saved game.
