Argyle -- if you'd like to try some first person adventure-lite/casual adventures with dark(ish)/horror themes you might consider:

Nightmare Adventures: The Witch's Prison
Escape from Frankenstein's Castle
Little Noir Stories: The Case of the Missing Girl
Age of Enigma: The Secret of the Sixth Ghost

All are available at Big Fish Games and you can play an hour long demo for each to see if they might ease the wait for the next first person horror adventure to release.

Coven and Prominence have definitely not been cancelled. I cannot say anything more but I have this from the developers themselves, and recently too. These games have no publisher yet.

Bracken Tor has been postponed, yes, but it's still coming out. It has a publisher but the developer wanted to add more and more stuff and polish things.

Phobos 1953 has a publisher. It's coming out in German speaking countries in December and I expect news about an English release soon after that.

I'm glad to hear that Coven isn't cancelled.
I hope it gets a publisher soon -- or that the developer is able to self-publish.

Do you have any idea of how soon we'll see an English release of Phobos 1953 by any chance?

cruise, it sounds like we will have to wait to see what the announcement is when it comes.

Nope, I'm sorry. I was shown the game by the publisher on the gamescom in August, but there was just a Russian version back then (no German or English version). They are working hard to get the German version ready for release at the moment and I really don't know if they're translating into English at the same time...

I'm glad to hear the news that titles like Prominence and Coven are still alive and well. I'd have to agree with the sentiment that the last year or so has been somewhat lean for new first person adventure titles. I definitely miss the halcyon days of The Adventure Company. Even so, although there is a longer gestation time for such titles nowadays, it really seems that dedicated indie developers have managed to produce some great games. I guess we just have to be patient and savor the titles we get.

I've often thought of trying out some casual titles to get my first person fix, but I've yet to take the plunge yet. I keep looking at the Drawn games and saying. "Oooh, shiny!" But I haven't tried them out yet. Given the delay for Bracken Tor, I may have to give one of them a go before long. smile

As a very infrequent player of casual games, I would very definitely recommend the "Drawn" games.

They are imaginative, innovative and truly entertaining thumbsup

As a fellow first-person gamer, I think you would enjoy the "Drawn" games; I LOVED "Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove" though, even more! (As far as casual games go.)

I agree with both Mad and Mary. The Drawn series is magical and well done with nice graphics and good soundtrack. Dire Grove series are the same only darker.

I've played casual games until I'm sick of the sight of them waiting for a game 1st person Myst like to come out.
Even chased down Baron Wittard and Lost Souls trying to find something to play.
Couldn't stand Lost Souls, with the inspector panting and moaning in my ear.

Was Dire Grove in a series? I only saw one of them on BFG. It's a great game, and I'd play the followup if there was one.

Thanks! So I've played Dire Grove and 13th Skull. Those were both excellent!
