Announcing Miskatonic, a point and click adventure set in H.P. Lovecraft's New England. It's a mystery with comedy and horror elements that tells the story of a new professor investigating suspicious events at the infamous Miskatonic University. You can try the Demo here. You can read more about the game, see screenshots and videos here. Miskatonic is an independent point-and-click adventure created by a lone developer using the Wintermute engine. It is inspired by H.P. Lovecraft, but is an original story not based on any individual work.
A mystery with horror and comedy elements, Miskatonic tells the story of a newly hired professor at Miskatonic University, and her attempts to investigate suspicious events around campus.
In the tradition of classic LucasArts and Sierra adventures, Miskatonic offers a mix of sleuthing and puzzle-solving in a rich environment full of eccentric characters. Happy Gaming! Ana

Thanks, BrownEyedTigre !! Looks a very promising concept Although I have to say an episodic release is not my personal favourite way to go. Sometimes the wait for following episodes becomes too long and sometimes they never materialise at all

Did you notice that the game manual actually tells you where the saved games will be stored? Yay!
And the humor is there. I laughed out loud at one paragraph in the Dean's letter to the staff.
I could wish our heroine didn't have the same back problem as the gal in A New Beginning but better her than me.
I do wonder if Classics professors dress that way.
Now, if I could just figure out...well, I guess it will come to me.
So far, I'm enjoying this demo.
Gil.

I bought Miskatonic as well and I must say I am very glad I did. Beautiful graphics, humurous, great atmosphere, nice puzzles. Everything to make an avid gamer happy! I was stuck and the designer helped me out in a few minutes (and of course feeling stupid afterwards:-)). For me: let the next episodes come quickly.

Has anyone been able to use Paypal to buy this download? I was going to download it just now but got as far as filling in details but their Paypal link doesn't seem to work - really dislike using actual credit cards online.

They show that the site is PayPal verified but there's no choice to use PayPal in their payment option dropdown box. Since I'm also interested in buying this game, and my online payment preference is PayPal, I've sent them an email asking about it.
Update
Here is the reply that I got back from the Miskatonic site:
"The payments are all handled by Plimus, an e-commerce company. It seems they have stopped processing Paypal recently. I have contacted them for support, but I haven't heard back yet. I will let you know if the problem can be solved."

I received a reply from Miskatronic this morning, this is what it says Hi Jo The payments are handled by Plimus, an e-commerce company. I don't have any access to the financial details of the transactions. This is the second time in the last few months that I have heard about some problem with them accepting Paypal (both customers were in Australia, it seems). Apparently they are trying to upgrade their system to better guard against Paypal fraud etc.
I understand your concerns about using credit card numbers online. I will talk to Plimus as soon as possible, and I'll get back to you when they contact me. Hopefully there is some other option.
So fingers crossed that they'll get it all sorted out.
