Thanks, Ana. This is the second Grim Tales game from developer Elephant Games (Mystery Trackers: Raincliff, Urban Legends: The Maze). I'm reading that there are 3 levels of difficulty from which to choose and that the strategy guide consists of a total of 68 pages (6 chapters plus a bonus chapter).

The first Grim Tales game was Grim Tales: The Bride. wave

If you enjoyed the first you will certainly enjoy this one as well. It has some great puzzles as well.

I'm playing the demo of this game and can't get the screwdriver to work on the nameplate. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Are you zooming into the nameplate alone or zooming into the picture above it? Be sure you are fully zoomed into the nameplate.

I'll try again. Thanks.

Went back and can't get a close up of the nameplate. Just get message "statuettes are missing..." I guess this game is a no for me!

Hi, Laurette!

I ran into the same problem and discovered strictly by accident that if I clicked just below the name plate, I got a close-up. Give it a try, and good luck!

Susie07: Tried clicking everywhere and never did get a close up. I guess I could start a new profile and try again, but as of now, am not sure I like the game enough. Thanks for your help, though!

Someone on the Big Fish forums said that she had to look at all the sparkled areas everywhere including the bedroom (and the bed headboard) before she could go back to the portrait so that the close-up of the plate would pop up and she could then use the screwdriver on it.

Just a thought. wave

Thanks to my GB friends, I decided to buy this one. Really glad I did. Have been playing for hours and still lots to explore. With the many "rooms" and objectives, it's nice to have the map and ability to jump from one location to another. A very well-designed game. Have to admit that I've skipped about half the puzzles/mini-games. But I think that anyone who enjoys puzzles/mini-games will love the variety in this game. Thanks again GB's for your recommendations.

This one almost doesn't need at wt since the Hint function can be used to get clues as to where to go and what needs to be done. But I can see that this game in particular would take a good long time to sort out. So far, I have used the wt twice. Appreciate your hard work, Ana. smile

Have to admit, I've skipped a lot of puzzles. crazy lol

BTW, have finished the main game and am into the bonus game. IMO, the main game in and of itself makes this worth the CE price. And so far the bonus game looks to be another good long chapter.

I had really been enjoying this game Until...an area where had to hit crow/raven in tree and game's Inventory and Menu and Hint buttons all froze(you could move but inventory would not raise up to use). Checked forum (in meantime had started over and same thing happened again)..and apparently this is a glitch in game..many have reported it. Hopefully it will get fixed soon. BF apparently did fix a problem w/sparkles in the advanced mode but didn't bother to fix this other problem.(one that keeps you from finishing/playing game!).

Hm. I experienced the sparkles in Advanced Mode in just a small portion of the game. But didn't have the problem with the raven. I did experience a short period of cursor lag somewhere late in the game. But it wasn't that much of a bother and didn't last for long.

Everything going along fine till Chapter 5. After placing the 17 wires in the ignition, the car takes off and then BOOM... nothing. The menu is there, strategy guide, hint system and inventory, but I can't access any of them. Background is black. I have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. Has anyone else had this problem? I checked the BFG forum, but could not find anything.

Really enjoying this game till now.

As of Jan 16, they are offering a game upgrade to avoid some glitches. If you upgrade, do you have to start all over? I really hope not since I'm still working through the elemental door locks and would be loathe to redo the 2 I've done.

Usually with an upgrade it will save your profile and you will not have to start over. I have seen instances, though, where folks did have to start over, so I hesitate to say for sure.

If it were me I would probably continue playing with my present version and hope for no glitches while waiting to find out if the upgrade saves my profile. wave

EDIT: Someone on the Big Fish forum for the game has said that installing the new version took her to the same place that she was before in the game. So, up to you whether you want to upgrade to the new version. smile

An update! This is really quite a good game-despite the glitches - because I believe the new updates have fixed them. I encountered the 'crow in tree' freeze-up and started over several times only to get stopped at same point. Saw on BF forum others having same trouble so waited for update for this problem. Yesterday the update was available so uninstalled and re-downloaded new version w/update (took forever-still have only Windstream DS 'lite' a smidge faster than dialup.-but better than nothing!)...it did let me start as my old player HowEVer--it began where it had frozen so had to get out of game and start again as new player and HAD NO PROBLEMS. Finished game a bit ago. Loved it. If you are worried that not much game left after the crow/tree don't. that is probably only 1/3 of the game so far....Lots left to do and play..lots!!
Well worth $-even though bad glitch-but it got fixed..and game ran totally fine until end and thru Bonus. I just wanted to post in case some did not get because of hearing of the glitch but -in my opinion-don't hesitate to get because the new download is as far as i know absolutely fine.
