Don't worry Ana, my house will still be full after all the purging. I tend to build up lots of stuff year after year, and then whittle it down when I notice I have way too much. Things I haven't used in eons are the first to go.
Thrift store gives me a 'receipt' which I then fill in and use to offset my income on my taxes. Works well. I guess I could have a gigantic yard sale but with all the work of sorting, marking, carrying in and out and dealing with a hoard of unruly customers, I'd just stress out. I used to do that a few times a year until I figured out that with all the hours I spent, I was making much less than a day's work and it just wasn't worth all the effort.
Gee Midge, run on over. You have about 12 hours before I trek to the store with my donations. They are gonna go nuts with it all. I'm still not done yet. Tomorrow I am going through all my 'music' and weeding out stuff I haven't played in years and can get rid of. I have a 2 drawer file cabinet full of books and sheets and several ring binders of my 'good stuff' that I used to play for weddings and funerals and parties. Those I keep, the rest I have to see. Should be fun.
I also ended up moving my Laser Disc collection to the living room (near the disc player) and my photo albums back to where the discs were. Makes more sense. Dunno why I didn't figure that one out earlier. Duh.
Lots of organizing to do. It will keep me busy for another few days I'm sure. Then maybe I'll tackle my storage sheds. One is all 'parts and pieces' that I use for home repair and rental upkeep and the other is jam packed with antiques and collectible stuff that I rotate in and out of the house. Lots of goodies out there. Once I start, it could be month's of sorting. I dunno if I want to open that can of worms.
