I am at the Cursed Mermaid Pub. I have asked the bartender permission to look behind a curatined area. Once there I see etchings on the table. I click on them and Holmes says..these are quite recent etc. The walklthrough says to click on each symbol and they will be entered in your documents. I have tried this over and over but they never appear in my documents or my report book. If I don't have these entered will it disrupt my game? Thank you...

As long as Holmes comments on them, which you say he has done, that should be fine. The symbols themselves don't appear in your Documents, but perhaps just a mention about them? At any rate, just make a sketch of them all for when you need the info later in the game.
