Well, thanks to tips from folks here on this board (even though this genre is not my best favourite) I've played some really good HOGS lately grin

[Some pretty rocky ones too, but I have cast those from my mind !! snicker]

The most impressive ones for me were :
Void, Beauty and the Beast, The Ravenhearsts and Raincliff and Bluebeard's Castle !!

Currently I'm replaying Sherlock Holmes : The Hound of the Baskervilles and lined up waiting have Dracula : Love Kills .... although according to the review I read, this one apparently can't be taken seriously laugh

So thank you, fellow Gameboomers, for the encouragement thumbsup

Welcome to Casual Games enjoyment, Mad! grin thumbsup

I'm very glad you have found some titles that you enjoyed. With so many casual games being released, of course there are those that we would just as soon forget about, but if you need more good suggestions, you know where to find us. laugh wave

Thank you, Marian thumbsup

Yes, as with all genres, what's good for one person is dreadful for another - and some of the HOGS I've had a go at have been pretty dour to say the least lol

But, nothing ventured, nothing gained, eh ?? wink

I am sorry you didn't vote for those on our favorites list here.

You may be able to pick up a few suggestions from there as well.

Hey, Mad! Are you having a birthday or do you just like cake? grin HB! if it's The Day!

Casual games don't have the lasting appeal of adventure games for me, they're like Chinese food: okay when you're playing them but not all that satisfying. Until you've played enough of them, that is, to pick out the real little gems among them, which are going to differ for each one of us, natch.

I was just saying on another thread that I re-played Mushroom Age after going down the list of everyone's favorites and loved it. If you want silly, funny and very well done after a diet of pretty but same old, same old, check it out.

Putting on my Nevosoft sneakers and picking up my Nevosoft cell phone,

Gil.

Hi smile

I don't visit the "Casual" Board quite as frequently as the "Adventure" Board and didn't see the "Games List Thread" in time.
I'm sorry for that, BrownEyedTigre, and I do apologise. But I will go check the list out as you suggest thumbsup

And chrissie. Yes. I must have plenty of "story". Not just screen after screen of searching. I know lots of people really enjoy that but I personally find it to be incredibly boring.
And NO time constraints, either. Otherwise I would never make it even halfway through some of these games lol

Mmmmm, the cake was Birthday Cake, traveler !! Yet another year younger, eh ?? It's just so amazin' !! wink
As for the HOGS .... Well some of the early ones I played were absolutely dreadful and completely "turned me off" but with kind advice from fellow Gameboomers I've been able to enjoy quite a few good titles since.
I find they very nicely fill the "haven't got enough time to get to grips with a full scale Adventure or RPG just now" niche for me.

Cheers.

Mad,

I love stories, too! Glad to know that others also like this feature in games. I didn't think I would like casual games but have found that there are some I have really liked, especially when I am going through a dry spell with other games. I especially like the "skip" feature in casual games because I'm not a fan of, or very good at, puzzles smile

Hi gatsbygirl smile

I think it's wonderful that there are so many game choices out there these days smile

I first only ever played Adventures. [And they will always my be first love and are still what I replay the most - especially the real oldies.]

Then, I tentatively tried my hand at an RPG or two - and found that if there was a "pause" button and if the combat was "turn based" I could sometimes manage quite well.

And now here I am (against all the odds I would have ever given myself) enjoying some HOGS as well because of being pointed to those that had interesting story content !!

Good Stuff All Round !!!! laugh

Cheers.

Mad yes
