Doing nothing is very hard to do...you never know when you're finished.

A short history of medicine:

I have an earache.

2000 B.C. - Here, eat this root

1000 A.D. - That root is heathen, say this prayer.

1850 A.D. - That prayer is superstition, drink this potion.

1940 A.D. - That potion is snake oil, swallow this pill.

1985 A.D. - That pill is ineffective, take this antibiotic.

2000 A.D. - That antibiotic is artificial. Here, eat this root.

It was a stifling hot day and a man fainted in the middle of a busy intersection.

Traffic quickly piled up in all directions, so a woman rushed to help him.

When she knelt down to loosen his collar, a man emerged from the crowd, pushed her aside, and said, "It's all right honey, I've had a course in first aid."

The woman stood up and watched as he took the ill man's pulse and prepared to administer artificial respiration.

At this point she tapped him on the shoulder and said, "When you get to the part about calling a doctor,I'm already here."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With the help of a fertility specialist, a 65 year old woman has a baby.
All her relatives come to visit and meet the newest member of their family.
When they ask to see the baby, the 65 year old mother says "not yet."
A little later they ask to see the baby again.
Again the mother says "not yet."
Finally they say, "When can we see the baby?"
And the mother says, "When the baby cries."
And they ask, "Why do we have to wait until the baby cries?"
The new mother says, "because I forgot where I put it."
A man hasn't been feeling well, so he goes to his doctor for a complete checkup.
Afterward the doctor comes out with the results.
"I'm afraid I have some very bad news," the doctor says. "You're dying, and you don't have much time left."
"Oh, that's terrible!" says the man. "How long have I got?"
"Ten," the doctor says sadly.
"Ten?" the man asks. "Ten what? Months? Weeks? What?!"
"Nine..."
Actual Answer from a Medical Student
While making his rounds, a doctor points out an x-ray to a group of medical students.
“As you can see,” he says, “the patient limps because his left fibula and tibia are radically arched.”
The doctor turns to one of the students and asks, “What would you do in a case like this?”
“Well,” ponders the student, “I suppose I’d limp, too.”
Actual Medical Charts
The baby was delivered, the cord clamped and cut and handed to the pediatrician, who breathed and cried immediately.
Exam of genitalia reveals that he is circus sized.
The skin was moist and dry.
Rectal exam revealed a normal size thyroid.
She stated that she had been constipated for most of her life until 1989 when she got a divorce.
Between you and me, we ought to be able to get this lady pregnant.
The patient was in his usual state of good health until his airplane ran out of gas and crashed.
I saw your patient today, who is still under our car for physical therapy.
The patient lives at home with his mother, father, and pet turtle, who is presently enrolled in day care three times a week.
Bleeding started in the rectal area and continued all the way to Los Angeles.
Both breasts are equal and reactive to light and accommodation.
She is numb from her toes down.
Exam of genitalia was completely negative except for the right foot.
While in the emergency room, she was examined, X-rated and sent home.
The lab test indicated abnormal lover function.
The patient was to have a bowel resection. However he took a job as a stockbroker instead.
Occasional, constant, infrequent headaches.
Coming from Detroit, this man has no children.
Examination reveals a well-developed male lying in bed with his family in no distress.
Patient was alert and unresponsive.
When she fainted, her eyes rolled around the room.
Good morning everyboomie. wave
How is everyone doing this morning? happydance
Y'all aren't gonna believe this.
Last night aliens landed in our pasture and abducted my sister. shocked
You're not gonna believe it because it's not true, right? rolleyes
You must know, as well as I do, aliens would take one look at my sister and flee at the speed of light. scared
How did y'all know that?? headscratch
Well I'm wondering what I'm gonna do inside all day, as the rain comes down. duh
I forgot to put my request in for nice weather for the whole week while I'm off. slapforehead
Maybe I'll just stay in bed and watch movies all day.
Have a happy day everyone.
Now how am I gonna get to sleep tonight when I'm laughing so hard at all your jokes Joe????? Thanks for some really neat chuckles. Love the medical ones especially. thumbsup
Found! At the bottom of my cedar chest. A very old 'floor rug'. Sort of a very thick tapestry thing that Victorians used to cover floors in the summertime instead of heavy rugs. It's pretty faded (or maybe it's supposed to be that way). I think it's some sort of tree pattern. I'm washing it now since it stunk of old moldy something or other. Thank goodness it was still in it's plastic thrift store bag and nothing else in the chest was the least bit 'infected' with the smell. Hope it comes out OK. Would love to use it on one of my floors!
Happy Wednesday everyone! woot
Good morning. I think we have rain today but it's still dark out so I'll have to wait until the sun comes up to be sure. Thanks Joe for your funny openers and comments. I'd love to see a pic of your sister. You have me so curious. I have a feeling she's very pretty. Morning Sorta, manxman, haroula, Karen, Sue, Gerry, and all who come in after me.
I have the day off also Joe but I have too much to do to just watch TV all day. Laundry this morning, then a badly needed hair appointment this afternoon. Of course it's raining on my hair appointment day.
Have a great day all. See you later.
Wonderful Wednesday ya'll puppy
It's another gorgeous day in AL and I plan to get out and walk the dogs around the neighborhood. I have to totally start at the bottom and work my way back up to mileage. sad
Daughter passed her PT test this morning. It was super cold (Ohio) and she tested outside so she missed the run time she wanted by 20 seconds. She was so upset, but she retests in July so she has a goal.
I've been on the phone with my vets this morning checking on who needs a heart worm tests.
Boys are here but are going home tomorrow night, so this will be a fun visit. Son is going to try to go to the funeral of a friends mom on Friday, but may not be able to get off...thus the boys are leaving early.
I have to cook books....never got around to them yesterday and file Son's taxes and fill out daughter's Ohio return. She only paid 75 cents in tax to them since she is a non-resident...so I refused to buy the state and then efile as that would have been $40.00. But she needs to file to keep everything easy.
I also need to vacuum. And that will be my day!
Joe, is this your last day off? Wow, that is a lot of rain for 1 night. Any danger of trees falling?
Sorta, good luck on the rug.
Manx, are you a Grimm fan? It looks like a fun series to me, but I always miss it.
Haroula wave Have long have you had them?
Doc, those blues are beautiful. Lil Soot is a designer dog. We just don't know who designed him rotfl We found him at the park when he was 3 weeks old. We think there is some Husky in there....but he is not nearly as big as a husky...so maybe not. He has that curled tail....but other breeds have curled tails too.
Cailyn, Lil Soot should be just fine, but we do have to be vigilant against reoccurence. How are you doing?
Gerry, any sign of Spring yet?
Midgy, we have rain tomorrow. Enjoy your hair appointment.
Connie, thanks....I feel sure he got it all, but we will be vigilant with all the dogs...well, more vigilant. I thought I already was, but apparently not enough.
Apple turnovers sound wonderful. How is hubby?
Gail, enjoy!
Darlene, happy skooshing!
Nan, stay warm.
