No patches. Not that it doesn't need one.
"Scrapper" asked this same question yesterday about the Cougar error ***here***.

SSorry Jenny100 I didn't see the one from Scrapper.

I guess I just won't be able to play the game, and I just started it. Oh Well

I know the feeling.
You could try different video drivers, but I think the Cougar error is a problem with the game not being compatible with all computers -- and unless someone sends you a compatible computer you'll keep getting the errors. Some people even claim the game was a beta and not fully tested. If you Google, you can find a lot of people having the Cougar errors (Cougar is the game engine), but no real solutions. The game really needed a patch, but the company doesn't seem interested in making one.

If you want to know what the game is about, there's a series of playthrough videos that starts ***here*** at Youtube.

It might work. The system requirements are fairly low. The only problem might be the video card. I don't know how many 7 year old computers had graphics cards with 256 MB of video memory.

Quote:
* OS: Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7
* CPU: Pentium 4 2.4GHz / Athlon XP 2000+
* RAM: 1 GB
* HDD: 4 GB free disk space
* Graphics: 256 MB Graphics Memory
* Sound Card: DirectX 9 Compatible
* DirectX: Version 9.0c

It has the GeForce 6800 Series with 256 of memory so I might give it a shot.

I've read that this game works better on old computers than newer ones, so you've got a good chance. Good luck.

Are you able to make any progress at all before the crashes? There's a thread ***here*** where people got past the crashes using other peoples' saved games. Of course if it crashes every 3 minutes that wouldn't help much.

I bought this game unaware of the Cougar Engine crash which I encountered while playing as Jack when he tries to use the computer in the van. I searched the web to find a solution only to discover not much (I did find this thread though) and that there were others in the same predicament. Anyhow, I went back to a previous save and changed a bunch of game settings:

Changed resolution to 1024 x 768
Turned off Anti-Alaising
Set texture details to Lower
Un-checked Per Pixel Lighting, Shadows, Post Effects, Shadow Filtering.

This got me back in the game this time at least (as I go and re-set the options) but I am nervous as to what might happen the next time.

Thanks for the suggestion, RayB.
Let us know if that makes the game playable or if the Cougar error pops up again later.
