This is indeed a surprise. Two different versions of this game have been released on Big Fish today; one is an IHOG and the other is a HOG. If you go to the download page of Big City Adventure: London Story (which is the IHOG), you will see that there is also a link for Big City Adventure: London Classic (the more traditional HOG version of the game, very much like the previous games in this series). Players can choose whichever version they want that suits their playing styles. I've already seen a few folks on the Big Fish forums who plan to purchase both versions. smile

I chose to download Big City Adventure: London Story and was very pleased with what I have seen so far: voiceovers, puzzles, inventory searches, a walkthrough, a detailed map, and an option to turn off hint sparkles. It seems a very nicely done and well-polished game. wave

I have been anxiously waiting for this one. Well, this one is totally different from the previous games which is a disappointment. I liked the old format better. But I have purchased this one with a game credit and hopefully once I get into it further I will enjoy it.
Oh Marian! I just read your post and I am going to go get the other version. I'm so glad that there is the alternative! smile

Marlene, go to the download page of London Story and you will see that there is a link to Big City Adventure: London Classic, which will give you the classic version of the Big City Adventure series. smile

If you are disappointed with the version that you purchased, I'm sure you could write to Big Fish and they will issue you a refund, and then you could purchase the other version instead. wave

Okay, good, you read my note already! laugh

Thanks, Ana. wave Yes, it's very cool that they released two versions of the game. I got the beta version of this game from Big Fish months ago and at that time it was a Collector's Edition. Somewhere down the line it was decided to instead make this release two separate standard-price games, which I believe will make a lot of folks very happy. yes

Nice to see you here, Haroula. happydance

Thanks Ana and Marian. I have a question, however as I am stuck. Yes...I am. I am trying to solve the sidewalk puzzle outside of the apartments and can't move forward until I do. It keeps saying I need a clue to solve it but I can't find a clue. Any suggestions? Thanks. I like this one. I know alot of folks like the classic, but I actually am enjoying this new format alot. bravo thanks yay

That's about as far as I got in the demo, Sly One, so I can't advise you on this; it's also telling me that I need a clue in order to solve it. I'll let you know if I figure out where that clue is. Maybe some other player who has gotten past this part can help out. wave

Thanks Marian! I am so happy that the developers have continued with the original format! Big City Adventure San Francisco was my very first HOG and I am very sentimental about that! Can one really be sentimental about a computer game? LOL Well, I am! In fact I still play with my old Atari 7800 and my Nintendo(NES). Those games are old friends! Ok, I'm nuts! crazy wave

I did Marian and that's the problem....it shows the apartments as the only thing I have to do. I have actually traveled to most of the other areas even though there was no exclamation point and did most of the HOG scenes, but still no clue to the sidewalk puzzle. I know I'm missing something at the apartments but I have yet to find it. I am going back in now to play around a bit....maybe I'll find it and if I do I'll let you know. Thanks Marian. wave thanks

Have you gotten into the apartments yet?

The key can be found in front of the apartments.

I understand just what you mean, Marlene. I'm a long-time computer gamer from way back (I can't believe it's about 30 years now eek ) and certain games will always have a special place in our hearts. smile

Yeah, 30 years! ago I played Atari with my kids. We had so much fun! I guess that's the reason. Now, back to the subject. My one and only complaint is that the last 2 games did not come up for retail sales on disk. I have an old computer in our vacation home in Northern Michigan and we don't have internet up there. It's available but really it's not necessary. An added expense. Anyway, I would like to play the later games on that computer. I have looked online and even sent an inquiry to Jolly Bear Games asking if a disk is available for sale. I wrote to them twice but received no response. I am assuming that there is no game disk. I wonder why? Interestingly there is a German version of Big City Vancouver but it's in German and that's all that is available. But never mind. I am playing this new one and loving it! grin

I did get into the apartments. There is drawer in there that I cannot open because I don't have the code yet...may be in there? However, I am moving on in other areas so maybe I just am not ready to solve it yet. I am continuing on and having a blast. I'll keep at it and will let you know when I figure it out and I WILL figure it out! I hope? smile

Thanks Marian.....

Hi, everyone!

I'm at the point where I'm supposed to give the guard at St. James Palace sweet bread and herbs. To obtain the last herb, the walkthrough says to lift the rope that's tied to the dock at the entrance but, no matter what I try, I'm unable to take the rope. Is this a glitch, or did I miss something? I have the toy mouse.

Thanks!

Susie, I can't see anyone reporting it as a glitch on BF. Hopefully someone that has played will be along to help.

Susan, I haven't played the game either and I'm not finding anything on the BF forum that might help you out, unfortunately. I can see that this game can be kind of tricky, though, judging from some of the comments on the forum. I hope someone who has played on through will be able to help. wave

Did you use the mouse on the cat? That's how you get one of the herbs (I just don't remember which one).

It's a great game. I bought both versions.

Hi, Kathy!

Thanks for your help. I did eventually throw the toy mouse to the cat and got the last herb, but I still couldn't take the rope. Very strange!

Although the previous Big City Adventure games were fun, I really like the changes the developers made in this one. I'm hoping the next game they make (and there are a lot of big cities left) will follow this new IHOG format.
