Isn't there a way of making older games play on PC? For instance, I have Win 7, but I think you can alter it to make Win XP games play, but I can't remember how it's done.

BabaLa -- the talented folks in the GameBoomers Glitches forum have lots of ideas for getting older games to run if you're having problems. They also have a list of games that members have played on Win 7 with no problems.

Finished The Lost Crown in 5 days, mainly because it was so engrossing (and I pulled an all-nighter the last day). Fabulous game! And there's to be a sequel?

I had the misfortune of already purchasing Dead Mountaineer's Hotel previously without paying attention to the review here. What a snore! Wandering about endlessly in a clunky interface with little to do.

I'm going to start working on your recs now, and reading the reviews a bit closer, eh? Thanks again for all your input.

Thank you all VERY much!

Hmmm, would you recommend getting the trilogy? It's only 24.99

I'd recommend Tomb of Zojir anytime. It's in the trilogy and it's Billy's best game, IMO, followed by Serpent Moon as a close second. Can you get all four? grin

BabaLa,

That's a great price on that trilogy. Go for it. If you like them, you'll be back for Serpent Moon. wink

The LHOD games are all first person through Zojir and you are the stranger moving through these eerie, haunted places. Serpent Moon is third person if that makes any difference to you, but just as atmospheric and creepy.

I don't much care for first person games, as a rule, but these are so easy to move through that I didn't even think about it after a minute or two. Anyway, IMO, whatever you get you can't lose.

I don't mind 1st vs 3rd person games. It's all good.

Finished SH vs Jack, and SH:The Awakened. Really don't like it when I know what to do but have to look at Objects A thru L, and talk to Persons A, B & C before I can actually do it. Still I love Sherlock.

Wondering if they're going to tease us with screenshots of Testament forever or it's actually going to be released!

I second the Gabriel Knights. I don't think I've ever met an adventure gamer who disliked the series, and they're one of my favorite of all times. Kinda suit what you described in your preferences.

On the other side, I couldn't stand the lost crown, and you liked it - so... :-)

At last, someone else who didn't like The Lost Crown. Thank you, Tomer, I thought I was all alone.

If you're still taking recommendations from me despite that, BabaLa, I'm with Tomer on GK 1 and 2. Classic games if you haven't played them.

Welcome to GB. If you haven't already, add a generous dose of Tex Murphy. Not a big Gabriel Knight fan, but I did like Sins Of The Fathers and LOVED The Lost Crown. Still Life and Post Mortem are excellent for the murder and detective end, too. PLUS, Chief has a huge amount of detective type games in the free games department.

I'm always taking recs. I'd rather not spend $$ finding out I have hours of a dud on my hands. I'm already disenchanted with Dead Mountaineer's Hotel and can't make myself finish it.

Who is Tex Murphy?
