Well, the Big Day is getting closer and I need to come up with some yummy food that I can make most of the day ahead. We have Play tickets that day and will be home in time for the game, but not much before that. Son will be working and then running in at the game's start. So, I'm in need of inspiration! What are ya'll having?

We do chili or pulled pork in the crockpot to serve. You can make ahead along with dips for chips. WE also like little wrapped wienies but they can't be done ahead. Ana

How does this make-ahead yummy bread sound? Cheesy Jalapeño Pull Apart Bread I'm making my home-made pizza. Everything is done ahead except for the dough for the crust.

Spinach/mushroom/pepper Jack cheese quiche. Made it today and it's so yummy I'm going to have to make more.

How about some shelled, frozen, cooked cocktail shrimp and sauce! You can defrost the day before.

Thanks Ana, will have to find a pulled pork crock recipe. Drac, the bread sounds yummy. Thanks Bea, I love Quiche but sadly, eggs don't love me or son lately. Gerry, son and hubby love shrimp. Thanks for reminding me....I don't like seafood so don't cook it but the guys would be in heaven.

L4l you can buy the shrimp fully cooked in the freezer section of the grocery store. All you have to do is defrost it. I would never eat shrimp when I was young. Now I love it!

Here's an easy one....Wrap sliced, quartered pineapple with bacon, stick a toothpick in each one, put them on a broiler pan and bake until bacon is crisp on one side, then flip them over and cook until that side is brown. Rob loves them. (yum) I also do a shrimp platter. Midgie

Midge, I'm so stealing that pineapple one - it sounds great and easy to boot.

I usually make up a batch of guacamole and have with tortilla chips and chile (sorry the chile recipe is a family secret so can't reveal). Best to make this tomorrow so all ingrediants meld together for Sunday.
5 avocados (the smaller ones) 2 limes 5 cloves garlic 1 jalapeno pepper 1 med. onion 1 bunch cilantro
1 When avocados are ripe scoop out from shells and mash. 2 Squeeze the limes till all juice is out. 3 crush the garlic cloves. 4 Deseed the jalapeno and dice fine (would advise wearing gloves when working with the pepper otherwise if you touch your eyes or lips they may start burning). 5 Dice the onion fine. 6 Chop up half the leaves from the cilantro fine(if large bunch all if not) Mix all ingrediants and let sit in the refrigerator for a day.
Enjoy, Barry

The book, and all my recipes were on the bottom kitchen cabinet....All gone with the flood If hubby is home sometime...Maybe he will give it to you again....I also lost my Boston baked bean recipe ,Midge gave me..<Sigh> My mothers bread pudding recipe...:(

Darleen, you might be surprised to find some of your old recipes - even your mother's bread pudding one - on the internet. My mom and I were trying to find an old Norwegian recipe that was my grandmother's. Sure enough, we found it on the internet. Mom remembered a couple of special things that grandma did with the recipe, so we were back in business!

I couldn't agree more. I have a tattered and stained recipe for "Taverns" from my mother-in-law who passed away some time ago. That's Sloppy Joes to the rest of us! I found it and immediately scanned it into my computer and sent it to my sons. I could send them the simple recipe, but the recipe written in her hand and stained over many years of use was the real value of it.
