Hello

I have a Vista Ultimate and I have Windows Mail, the last three days when I turn on my email, I will read a couple, then go off to do something else. When I go back to my email the email that I have read is not in my inbox where I wanted to keep it, but in my sent file. I have contacted Microsoft (????) and I have also contaced the company that made my computer which is Velocity Micro, but they do not know much about it. I have also contacted my tech and he wants me to bring it in to his shop. I already have my back up computer there. Does anyone know how to fix this problem. I have also contacted Cox and they say that it is not their problem.

Thanks

Maggie

I use Windows Live Mail, but it is fairly similar to Windows Mail. If you open up the email in your "sent" mail folder, does it say who it was sent to?

Can we assume you've run a full virus scan with your antivirus software?

I'm afraid I don't know much about Windows Mail, but be sure your antivirus is up to date and do a thorough scan. I don't see why any email program would move an incoming message to the Sent folder unless it was infected.

This does sound like an infection. Are the emails from the same person all the time?

I am going to run a full scan with my antivirus, all the emails are from different people, some I delete, but also some I keep.

Who are these emails being sent to?

Do you use the same email address as your Facebook account? The reason I ask is that I know you play a couple of Facebook games a lot. I avoid them like the plague, but you might want to think about changing your Facebook password. I've rescued 3 computer email programs from Facebook accounts that were hacked using the email provided there... Just a thought.

My email address is the same, but I change my password I change on a regular basis for security reasons. The emails go into the sent file. I just did a complete scan with McAfee and it found nothing wrong, but then it scans once a week. I am taking my computer to my tech tomorrow and I am going to have him install windows 7 and also have him fix my email. I would kick my computer, but I would just get a sore foot. Yes, I am still playing 2 facebook games, I enjoy them, but I am about ready to quit as I really miss my regular rpg games.

I added windows mail to a new folder, but now sure if it will work, I will try it and let you know.

I tried to change the folder, but when I click on another email and then went off and then on again, the email had gone into the sent folder, well, it is off to the tech I guess. Thanks, I was hoping not too. I must have a problem that is hiding from all of us. smile

If you have a virus, hopefully your tech can clean it out for you. It does sound like the kind of mischief a virus would do.

Did you check that an email "rule" isn't being applied to your read mail?

On AVG (my virus program) there is a setting for 'scan outgoing email.' I had to turn this setting of because my outgoing emails would not be sent. They all went into the junk pile - or there was a message saying that the email could not be sent.

Wanted to let you know that I had to get my tech to get my mail fixed, it was a virus that my anti virus did not find.
